#TeamAddieMae Benefit Box

GUYS. Remember that time when we bought some polish and donated to a good cause all with the click of one tiny button? As in, best display of zero effort EVER?! Well, let’s do that again. I have a BIG TIME clicking opportunity to show you today.

Kiley, the maker behind 2-Bit Polish, needs our help! Her 7-year-old daughter, Addie, was recently diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor. Naturally, a small portion of the indie nail community – inarguably the most kindhearted bunch of magicians you’ll ever know – has rallied together and come up with an awesome collaboration box in an effort to raise money for Kiley, Addie and their family.

Adeline Mae was born a beautiful and healthy little girl. Now fast forward 7 years. Addie came home from school shopping with her family on July 31, 2017 with a headache. Her parents, Michael and Kiley, did what all parents would do and felt her forehead – and that’s when they noticed the muscle tension in her face. After visiting the emergency room, they were immediately flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee. Tests were done and they were given the worst possible news: Adeline Mae Underhill has Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) – terminal brain cancer.

Addie was given 6-9 months. Right now, she is going through radiation treatment in hopes of shrinking the tumor and giving her a little longer to live. Radiation is their only hope! DIPG is inoperable and does not have a cure.

This benefit box is to help raise money for the Underhill family so they can spend every second with their baby girl and not have to worry about how the bills are going to get paid. If a clinical trial became available, this donation could potentially help pay their way in.

DESCRIPTION: A deep, rich blue with pink hue and shimmer

OMG. Have you ever?! (No you have not.) What a gorgeous, glowy, dreamy blue! One swipe of this and no more ladylike composure for you. Tongues are lolling, everywhere.

I did two coats, although one was almost enough. Ultra smooth application. Hands-down perfection.

NIGHT OWL LACQUER: UNICORN KISSES

DESCRIPTION: A bright purple with iridescent shimmer, silver holographic shreds and purple/blue shifting microflakies

All you purple lovers, FOCUS! This one’s got your name written allllll over it! And Lindsay made it, so of course we want 27 bottles.

Formula was pretty sheer so I did three coats here. Easy application, and shimmer for dayyyyys.

PRETTY BEAUTIFUL UNLIMITED: UNICORN MAGIC

DESCRIPTION: A blackened purple with silver, gold and copper galaxy glitter, rainbow micro shreds, purple shimmer and a rainbow of crystal flakies

I won’t lie: I kinda wanna eat this one. Except SOCIETY says no. Ugh. But what if – WHAT IF?! – it’s the juiciest most delicious blackberry thing ever invented and we’ve just been sitting over here being normal and whatnot? I mean, what is the point in life if we can’t lick some nail polish every now and then? I ask you, WHAT IS THE POINT?!

Two coats here, but could’ve done infinity.

COLORS BY LLAROWE: YOU MAKE MY DAY ADDIE MAE

DESCRIPTION: A turquoise blue crelly with unicorn pee pigment, pink/gold shimmer, chameleon flakies and sprinkle of holo

Look at this beauty! I am so drawn to this cheerful blue shade; it makes me so happy just to look at it. Then Leah Ann goes and throws some shimmer in it, and OMG, it’s noodle legs to like the trillionth degree. And look at those little flakies peeking through .. gah! We lub it lots, oh yes we do.

Three coats here, although two might be okay for some.

INSPURRRATIONS NAIL POLISH: JEREMIAH 31:13

DESCRIPTION: A bright pink jelly with pink glitter and silver and purple holo glitters

Young women will dance and be glad … I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

What a glorious way to end this polish parade. Seriously y’all. If you’re still on the fence at this point, well basically the fence is no place for a lady. Soooo ..

I love this polish. It’s simple and pretty, elegant with a skosh of flashy. The jelly formula is sheer so it took three coats for me, but it applied smooth and gloop-free. Can’t ask for much more than that! Well, unless it comes with a side of Leonardo, that is.

BLUSH Lacquers: Color4Nails Exclusive Duo

Took a two day blogging break and fully expected to come in here today and all the blogs would be done. Guess what? Ughhhhhh. Why you no write yourself?! So rude.

In my defense, I put pants on (against my will) and did a social thing on Saturday in an attempt to stay married. Hubby and I went to one of those movie theaters where you get food and alcohol all while laying down in a recliner – and I don’t know about you, but if my life could be summed up in one big picture, it’d be me lounging about all over that recliner with an afghan covering me all the way to the neck. Most likely, I appeared highly inappropriate and a bit TOO lounge-y for public, but I did somehow manage to leave the robe at home, soooo .. if bonus points are coming, that sounds about right.

Effort is being made, though, I swear it. KBShimmer: Unicorn Pee Collection

POLISH EMERGENCY! POLISH EMERGENCY! In fact it’s sooo polish emergency, I’m currently not napping or couch lounging or being distracted by potato chips within grabby distance. GUYS. I’m a proper blogger today! Send bonus points! And Leonardo, for safety.

So in an effort to tell you about things before the things are no longer the things, here’s a very quick blog post that I swear better not be moot by the time I get to the end. Cuz polish is flying off shelves and I don’t carpal tunnel for no dadgum reason. Or skip naps.

One word: UNICORN PEE. Okay, two words. OMG, now is not the time for math. Check out this insane collection from KBShimmer:

OPACITY: I did two coats on top of black for maximum drool effect; you can also layer on top of the other polishes to amp up the pee.

Rebecca with Alchemy Lacquers sent me her gorgeous new Star Shards collection to share with you today. First of all, they are mostly jellies which means I could end the blog right here and you’re tossing all five in the cart anyway. But secondly …

Formula was on point. Jellies can be tricky, but there’s absolutely no hassle here. Sheer on the first coat but they build up so good, and by the third coat, I swear you’re surrounded by your own drool buckets. Or if not, well CLEARLY you are wrong.

Vega, the lone crelly in the bunch, is just as good. Two coats; three if you’re crazy. Obviously I did three. Oh, and my favorite? The delicious, juicy orange one! I swear it’s four fingers of Jolly Rancher goodness, except slightly more poison-y.

Noodles Nail Polish: Fall 2017 Collection

Well guess who sat down to write a bonus blog last night and then didn’t write one? Cuz about 2.5 seconds into it, accidental head lolling, mouth gaping and general unattractiveness ensued, soooooo… Clearly this whole blogging thing is going really really well. Ugh.

However, AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE. Bonus points are coming, I’m quite certain.

So before time gets away again, let’s get into some polish! I’ve got new Noodles! Natalie with Noodles Nail Polish sent me her gorgeous new Fall Collection to share with you today, and YOU. WILL. LOOOOVE. Take a look at these beauties:

Now, swoon!

One look at these and you’re instantly reminded of fall. Scarves and Uggs and things with pumpkin. Leaves and bonfires and hot dogs on sticks. WANT, WANT and NEED! That’s your new motto. I, on the other hand, will just sit here and cry like a crazy person. GUYS, I’m not ready! I’m all good with the fall colors, the fall polishes, and the Starbucks in their limited edition cups. But brown grass is coming y’all and summer is approximately 18 years away. Booooo.

OPACITY: Two coats plus two coats of glossy top coat. This one had a thicker consistency, quite possibly cuz it’s loaded full of goodies ORRRR! because I’m not very good at nails. Either way, though, I managed just fine.

TWILIGHT NIGHTS

DESCRIPTION: A blue crelly with blue microflakies and gold and bronze shimmers

OPACITY: Two coats plus glossy top coat

WONDER-FALL

DESCRIPTION: An olive-toned brown crelly with scattered holographic and bronze and green shimmers

OPACITY: Two smooth coats plus glossy top coat; also looks like chocolate. At this rate, skinny will never come.

SNUGGLE UP

DESCRIPTION: A teal jelly with blue/green/copper color shifting flakies, copper and gold glitters and copper shimmer

OPACITY: Two coats plus two coats of glossy top coat. This one had the same consistency as the red one above; thicker but manageable. Do we care, though? NO. Cuz GREEEEN.

HAYRIDES & BONFIRES

DESCRIPTION: A dense glitter polish packed with gold shimmers

OPACITY: This polish is made to be worn as full coverage, which I’ve achieved here in three brushed on coats. If you like to sponge your coats on, two would work just fine. And if you’re feeling a bit of topper action, one light coat over a base color is all you need. Lastly, and most importantly, I just said “topper action” and now I think my brain has officially gone away somewhere.

AUTUMN CHILL

DESCRIPTION: A blue holographic with copper and blue microflakies

OPACITY: Two easy coats plus glossy top coat

HAPPY HARVEST

DESCRIPTION: A cream crelly with orange, turquoise, navy, bronze and copper glitters as well as a touch of copper shimmer

OPACITY: Two of the yummiest coats of your life! This crelly formula is absolute perfection. Covers evenly and effortlessly; levels out like a DADGUM CHAMPION.

ORCHARD STROLL

DESCRIPTION: A violet/red/copper color shifting crelly with red flakies and gold glitters

OPACITY: Two dreamy coats plus noodle legs, drool buckets and other ladylike-type scenarios

Top Shelf Lacquer: Drunken Creme Fall Holos

Now that the Polish Pickup blogging frenzy is officially done, it’s time to get on our focus face. Remember those 7,397 blogs left to write? Not a dadgum dent. I figure at this point if there’s even a skosh of a chance in getting caught up, someone’s gonna have to come take the pajamas and the couches and the Full House away.

Except don’t, or I will cut you.

So before stabby things happen, let’s do Plan B: pulling double blog duty plus superhuman efforting plus Cheetos far from grabby distance. I mean, it’s not the most ideal, but it’s hard to write a blog while in the midst of a potato chip euphoria-type situation.

Amy from Top Shelf Lacquer sent me one of the most MUST HAVE fall collections of all time. This is the Drunken Creme Fall Holos, and OMG, you guys! Wallets are flying out of purses, everywhere.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: the best thing about fall is the colors. The palette on this collection is all your dreams come true. Some warm and cozy beauties in here! A brown, an orange, a yellow, a GREEEEEEN! Did someone just hand me a basketful of kitties? Might as well have.

BLUSH Lacquers: The Road to Polish Con

Current status: wayyyyy past the Full House rabbit hole. It’s officially 2 a.m., Friends is on, and now seems like a really great time to write a blog. Seriously, can we not even be normal for like half a second at least? (NO.) Sleep would be nice, but apparently that’s for other people. Ugh.

But because I don’t feel like spending the next 18 years in here, let’s go ahead and do a quick one. It’s basically a Polish Emergency anyway, and I am a DADGUM PROFESSIONAL. Take a look at what Victoria with BLUSH Lacquers sent over:

Polish ‘M: Not Really Neons (partial) Collection

Sleeping til 11am does not get a blog written, I’ll tell ya that much. Ugh.

Happy Labor Day to all my U.S. pals! Anyone working? Not working? Lounging on couches? Swatching and blogging til your fingers fall off? ME TOO! I’ve been so far behind on blogging responsibilities, so today is my day for an attempt to catch up. I started a new job that’s kinda sorta thrown my 9-year routine into a skosh of chaos, and my brain hasn’t quite figured out what the hell just happened. I fully expect to stay home and polish nails for a living ANY DAY NOW, but hubby tells me no. Cuz FOR SOME REASON he says I have to keep the job that pays me money since APPARENTLY nail polish doesn’t buy electricity. Well, butttttt … have you tried though? I mean, I’d do all sorts of things for nail polish. Perhaps there’s a lady at the Electric Company who’d manage to keep our lights switched on in exchange for something with flakies in it. I mean, what if – WHAT IF! – the barter system is still a negotiable thing but we’ve just been sitting over here paying cash and being normal and whatnot? How sad is that? (VERY.)

In the meantime, though, it’s business as usual I guess. I’ve got some fun polishes to show off for you today! Michelle with Polish ‘M sent me 6 shades out of 12 from her new Not Really Neons collection, and if you’re into ultra creamy, gloop-free, yummy deliciousness, well then you’re about to get at least 27 levels of drool-y. Take a look at what you’re buying today:

I know! You want all these, plus extras for SAFETY. Completely normal behavior, if you’re curious.

Before we get into the colors, in order to save time and/or a carpal tunnel-like situation, all of my swatches show three coats. Some of you could do just two coats, as the coverage was really good. But because I overanalyze just about everything in my life, I went with three in case of some invisible unevenness that no one else but me could see. Thus, I may have a medical condition or quite possibly some superpowers, and in which case, this whole Best Blogger Ever thing just took on an entirely new meaning.

Also, a little note from our maker:

Although this collection is marketed as NOT “neons”, they do indeed contain neon pigment. Neon pigment is notorious for fading. PLEASE keep your polishes stored OUT of direct light and sunlight. A closed, dark cabinet is best! Even still, fading will occur with time. That’s the nature of neon pigments. There’s no way to avoid this.

36 combined pigments were used to create the 12 colors. The pigments are broken down by hand, by me. They are then triple strained to get out undissolved pigment chunks. I do not use a mixer; separation CAN happen. It’s nothing a good shake can’t fix!

ATOMIC

DESCRIPTION: A rose pink creme; so girly and sweet

TANGELO

DESCRIPTION: A bright orange-yellow creme; a surprise favorite. Most likely cuz it looks like I’ve had my hand in the Cheetos too long, which honestly isn’t even that impossible of a thing.

HARLEQUIN

DESCRIPTION: A bright lime green creme; the most neon of the bunch

MYRTLE

DESCRIPTION: An aqua green creme; probably my favorite. Cuz where there is GREEN, there is me picking my jaw up off the floor 18,000 times.

ROYAL

DESCRIPTION: A royal cobalt blue; brilliant and dreamy and all sorts of noodle leg-y

WISTERIA

DESCRIPTION: An orchid creme; purple lovers, PAY ATTENTION!

All of these dry to a semi-matte finish, so I added one coat of glossy top coat and then went and passed out real quick. Cuz sometimes the effort of staying upright is simply too much to bear.

But do they watermarble? Whyyyy, yes they do! Of course, watermarbling has a host of factors and frustrations that go hand in hand with any semi-successful result. Here is what happened when I turned off my air conditioning, dropped polish in lukewarm bottled water, and then stopping breathing for 20 minutes:

A WATERMARBLE ATTEMPT

Not the worst, right?! I’m kinda diggin it. The polishes were super spread-y in the water, which quite possibly might be the only time ever when it’s perfectly okay to describe something as “super spread-y.” But it’s true; these polishes are watermarble champions, and if you’re kind new at this whole thing, this collection might make your life a whooooole lot easier. Prettier, for sure, though.
