Night Owl Lacquer: Polish Pickup January 2018

Standard

• A PRESS SAMPLE FANDANGO •

I think I’ve forgotten how to blog. I took a four day break, and now I’ve been sitting here for the past 18 hours staring at a blank screen. Words, why you no write yourself?!  Ugh. It’s hard to be clever when the brain is on vacay.  And covered in 132 brand new sweaters. Did I tell you I’ve developed a shopping problem?  I mean, just cuz I haven’t been blogging doesn’t mean I haven’t been productive.  Hubby looooooves being married to me, I’m about 23% sure of it.

SHALL WE READ MORE? WE SHALL!

Night Owl Lacquer: Polish Pickup December 2017

• A PRESS SAMPLE FANDANGO •

Black Friday = DONE.  All the swatching!  All the blogging!  All the DADGUM EFFORTING!  Seriously, the sweat bead mustache’s been at an all-time high.  Last night I did two loads of laundry and then folded all of it STRAIGHT OUT OF THE DRYER, sooo… now we’re all basically confused about whose blog this is, cuz it’s certainly not mine. A facsimile of mine, maybe.  I mean, my 18-month-old laundry pile begat other laundry piles and pretty much my closet and bedroom floor have became interchangeable.  So again, we’re in the wrong blog, SURELY.

#TeamAddieMae Benefit Box

GUYS. Remember that time when we bought some polish and donated to a good cause all with the click of one tiny button? As in, best display of zero effort EVER?! Well, let’s do that again.  I have a BIG TIME clicking opportunity to show you today.

Kiley, the maker behind 2-Bit Polish, needs our help! Her 7-year-old daughter, Addie, was recently diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor.  Naturally, a small portion of the indie nail community – inarguably the most kindhearted bunch of magicians you’ll ever know – has rallied together and come up with an awesome collaboration box in an effort to raise money for Kiley, Addie and their family.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of any better reason to spend some money today. A legit no joke justification-type scenario just landed in your lap, y’all!  Take a look at what you’re getting:

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Adeline Mae was born a beautiful and healthy little girl. Now fast forward 7 years. Addie came home from school shopping with her family on July 31, 2017 with a headache. Her parents, Michael and Kiley, did what all parents would do and felt her forehead – and that’s when they noticed the muscle tension in her face. After visiting the emergency room, they were immediately flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee. Tests were done and they were given the worst possible news: Adeline Mae Underhill has Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) – terminal brain cancer.

Addie was given 6-9 months. Right now, she is going through radiation treatment in hopes of shrinking the tumor and giving her a little longer to live. Radiation is their only hope! DIPG is inoperable and does not have a cure.

This benefit box is to help raise money for the Underhill family so they can spend every second with their baby girl and not have to worry about how the bills are going to get paid. If a clinical trial became available, this donation could potentially help pay their way in.

— Courtney, Co-creator of the #TeamAddieMae Benefit Box

There are 10 indie makers who have joined this box to bring us nail polish (yay!) and loads of other fun goodies (more yay!) so get your shopping hand ready. And drool buckets, for SAFETY.

Polishes first:

PARROT POLISH:  ADDIE MAE

DESCRIPTION:  A deep, rich blue with pink hue and shimmer

OMG. Have you ever?! (No you have not.)  What a gorgeous, glowy, dreamy blue!  One swipe of this and no more ladylike composure for you. Tongues are lolling, everywhere

I did two coats, although one was almost enough. Ultra smooth application.  Hands-down perfection.

NIGHT OWL LACQUER:  UNICORN KISSES

DESCRIPTION:  A bright purple with iridescent shimmer, silver holographic shreds and purple/blue shifting microflakies

All you purple lovers, FOCUS!  This one’s got your name written allllll over it!  And Lindsay made it, so of course we want 27 bottles.

Formula was pretty sheer so I did three coats here. Easy application, and shimmer for dayyyyys.

PRETTY BEAUTIFUL UNLIMITED:  UNICORN MAGIC

DESCRIPTION:  A blackened purple with silver, gold and copper galaxy glitter, rainbow micro shreds, purple shimmer and a rainbow of crystal flakies

I won’t lie: I kinda wanna eat this one.  Except SOCIETY says no. Ugh. But what if – WHAT IF?! – it’s the juiciest most delicious blackberry thing ever invented and we’ve just been sitting over here being normal and whatnot?  I mean, what is the point in life if we can’t lick some nail polish every now and then?  I ask you, WHAT IS THE POINT?!

Two coats here, but could’ve done infinity.

COLORS BY LLAROWE:  YOU MAKE MY DAY ADDIE MAE

DESCRIPTION:  A turquoise blue crelly with unicorn pee pigment, pink/gold shimmer, chameleon flakies and sprinkle of holo

Look at this beauty! I am so drawn to this cheerful blue shade; it makes me so happy just to look at it. Then Leah Ann goes and throws some shimmer in it, and OMG, it’s noodle legs to like the trillionth degree. And look at those little flakies peeking through .. gah!  We lub it lots, oh yes we do.

Three coats here, although two might be okay for some.

INSPURRRATIONS NAIL POLISH:  JEREMIAH 31:13

DESCRIPTION:  A bright pink jelly with pink glitter and silver and purple holo glitters

Young women will dance and be glad … I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

— Jeremiah 31:13, Holy Bible, New International Version (NIV)

What a glorious way to end this polish parade. Seriously y’all. If you’re still on the fence at this point, well basically the fence is no place for a lady.   Soooo ..

I love this polish. It’s simple and pretty, elegant with a skosh of flashy.  The jelly formula is sheer so it took three coats for me, but it applied smooth and gloop-free. Can’t ask for much more than that! Well, unless it comes with a side of Leonardo, that is.

Are we done?  NO. Here’s a quick rundown of the box extras:

Welp, you want every last bit of that.  For real, this box is soooo good! And the smells that come out of it when you open the package? Super swoon-y!

PART 1 Polish Pickup July 2017: Cocktails & Mocktails

Standard

GUYS. After all the blogs I’ve written, assuming an award would be coming any day now – either for a miraculous not-hideous nail art or maybe just because I wore pants on a Sunday –  well FINALLY all that efforting has paid off.  Cuz a legit no joke award has officially come.  I’ll be honest:  I was just thinking maybe y’all would get me a Starbucks or something.  But OMG, NO; it’s wayyyyy better.

Sarah and Adrienne, the awesome gals behind the Polish Pickup (as well as Fair Maiden Polish), asked me to be the designated blogger for the month of July.   Whaaaaaa?!  For real, are angels singing?  Cuz I swear I hear angels.  And a full toot on my own horn, at the minimum.  Cuz I rarely win anything.  I mean, I guess I did win 48 rolls of toilet paper in the work raffle, but that point is moot.

So listen, this is gonna be a super big blog post.  There are 29 polishes to go over that’ll take at least 18 years to read, so make sure you have snacks and some diabetic circulation socks handy cuz basically you’re not moving for a really long time.  I mean, if I’m about to give myself a wicked case of carpal tunnel, you’re about to look at some nail polish for nigh on eternity.  Who’s getting excited then?  EVERY DADGUM ONE OF US, that’s who.  Lessss go!

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

For those who aren’t familiar with the Polish Pickup, I’ll give you a very brief synopsis.  Each month there is a theme that is nominated and voted on by the members of the Polish Pickup group on Facebook.  The makers who participate will create exclusive polishes based on that theme, the shop goes live on the first Friday thru Monday of the month, and then we all thank Baby Jesus for the internet, otherwise there’d be some Black Friday-style elbow jabbing happening everywhere.  Come Tuesday, the shop is closed and the polish goes away forever.  Are you properly panicked?  Well you should be.  It’s a  POLISH EMERGENCY! at it’s most finest.

To read more about it, click here.

Okay, no more chatty.  There’s some serious business up ahead.  EVERYONE:  prepare for the noodle legs, cuz it’s about to get suuuuuper pass-out-y up in here.   This month’s theme is Cocktails & Mocktails, so if you need a reason to have a wine cooler on a Sunday morning, this here’d be it.

ALTER EGO:  Silver Cocktail

DESCRIPTION:  A silver holographic base with just a hint of gold

COATS:  Opaque in two; ultra smooth

I reallllly love this color.  It’s a simple and elegant shade, but that holo is straight up ridiculous.  About 27 levels of gorgeousness.  And Queen of England-approved, in case y’all are having sandwiches later.  As happens from time to time.

POLISH MY LIFE:  Passion Peach Sangria

DESCRIPTION:  A light peach/mild orange crelly with white and rainbow flakies for the perfect shimmer

COATS:  Formula was thicker than average so I added several drops of thinner to ease application. Two coats was good coverage but I did three to smooth everything out.

The flakies in this one are a bit shy to capture, but in person you can see them easier.  I mean, it’s not a flakie EXTRAVAGANZA! or anything, but sometimes you just want something a little more chill.  We’re not always feeling our jazz hands, now are we?  And this peach color has just enough darkness in it to not wash out my see-thru skintone.  Bonus!

DESCRIPTION:  A yellowy neon green base with bright green sparks and ultra chameleon chrome flakies that shift red/copper/green/gold

COATS:  Three easy ones

If you’ve read this blog before – although WHY HAVEN’T YOU?! is the actual question – y’all know I have a thing for green.  Green is my happy place.  I mean, where there is green there is me picking my jaw off the floor like 18,000 times.  And then you go tossing flakies in it like NBD, and I swear I’ll never be normal again.

NORTHERN STAR:  Shark Bite

DESCRIPTION:  An ocean blue base with red microflakies and blue shimmer

COATS:  I got opacity in 2, but some may need 3

This is my very first Northern Star polish, but it’s absolutely not my last.  Formula on this is beyond amazing, so fluid and practically silky.   The deep saturated color was a one way ticket to the Drool Convention, and I swear if I there weren’t like 24 more polishes to get through, I’d just go ahead and pass on out now.

MY INDIE POLISH:  Goodnight Puppy

DESCRIPTION:  A pink base with lots of depth and a neat green spark

COATS:  I did three even though two probably would’ve been just fine; no formula issues at all

This one makes me smiley, although not very adorably.  No, I’m just sitting here with my eyes closed, smiling to myself like an idiot cuz polish does things, and they’re not always pretty.  The Ugly Ecstasy Face, guys!  It’s getting very unattractive over here.

NAIL HOOT:  Berry Sexy Vanilla Sunrise

DESCRIPTION:  A berry holographic with a hint of a purple flash

COATS:  Opaque in a quick two

Nail Hoot was the very first indie brand polish I’d ever purchased over two years ago, and it’s because of Brandie that I even have this indie addiction.  Basically, if it wasn’t for Nail Hoot luring me into this fantastical new world, you wouldn’t be reading this blog right now.  It simply wouldn’t exist.  So now we all owe Brandie our firstborn childrens cuz I think that’s how this thing works, right?  I might be thinking of something else.  Either way, though, Brandie, THANK YOU!

Night Owl Lacquer: Beach Life Collection + Little Owlet Duo

Standard

Sure wish hubby would go be stupid so I’ll have something to write about in this blog soon.  I mean, it’s been at least two years since he tripped over the door and fell in the house, so I’m pretty sure we’re due for a good one.  But nothing that involves the hands, though, cuz I’ll be needing sandwiches at some point.

So maybe he’ll wake up to a face full of cat butthole.  Or perhaps a bird will poop on his eye while he’s minding his own business, and then spend the next 37 years self-diagnosing himself on the internet. Cuz that happened to me, and I’m a trillion percent certain it’s wayyyy funnier when I’m not involved.

Until then, however, this blog may have an extraordinary amount of BLANK SCREEN happening, which I assume makes for a very boring story. Unless you have no eyes. I dunno.

Let’s talk polish!  I received two new collections from Lindsay with Night Owl Lacquer – a summery quad and a collaboration duo – and I’m super excited to show you.  Are you ready for a whoooooooole lotta pretty? Well then lessss go!

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

THIS.  Lordt. We’re already drool-y.

Okay, so here is the Beach Life Collection, four of the prettiest neon holographic flakie glittery goodnesses that ever lived.  GUYS. They’re GLORIOUS!  And you want them, oh yes you do.

First up is Life is Good Today:

This one has a neon orange base with gold galaxy holo microglitter, red/gold microflakies and different sized lime/gold and orange/green iridescent color shifting glitters.

Also possibly Cheeto cheese, and in which case, WE LUB IT MORE.

My eyes my eyes!  All that in two magical coats.

Macro, a prelude to the 27 bottles you’re buying:

Then I did some nail art:

And I don’t hate it! It’s not gonna win a prize or anything, but we’ll take this brief moment of mojo while we can.  Also, used the new Uber Chic Beauty 18-02 plate for this one.

Next up is Where the Ocean Meets the Sky:

This one has a bright blue base with iridescent sparks, neon blue microflakies and silver holo shreds. I just love it!  The color is divine.  For real, I’m roughly 2.5 seconds away from sticking my fingers in people’s faces. Although surprisingly, strangers don’t wanna look at mah nails! quite like you’d expect.  Seriously though, they should LOOK AT THEM.  I mean it.

If you’re thinking HAND MODEL!, you are correct.

An insane display of flakie:

You done died. You did.

Some mediocre nail art:

Meh.  I don’t dislike it, but I sadly covered up too much of the blue. In my dreams, though, this looks freaking FABULOUS.  Used the Lina Feeling Shapely 09 plate if you’re curious.  (Are you though? Prolly not this time.)

Now here’s Toes in the Sand:

This one has a light sandy nude base packed full of gold shift, gold microflakies and clear galaxy holo microglitter. It’s such a precious, dainty little shade. Practically begs for a tiny cappuccino. Pinkies up, y’all!  Cuz we are a bunch of classy ladies whether we like it or not.

Now, imagine this polish on someone whose fingers are slightly less sausage-y …

I know, right?! In the basket she goes!

That shimmer! So swoon-y.

Scroll past this one:

Cuz stamping with your eyes closed is never a good thing. Clearly. Ugh.  Used the Moyra Dreamology 27 plate in case recreations are in order. Bahahahahaha!

Blah.

Lastly, here’s Cold Drink in My Hand:

FOCUS. Cuz GREEN is happening.  Glorious, beautiful, mind altering green.  There’s probably a formula thing and a coats thing and maybe even other things, but at this point it’s all moot. As soon as I get control of my brain, then we’ll see.

This one has a neon green base with bright green sparks and holo flakies, and if it ends up on all the surfaces, well that’s the most logical next step.

Brace yourself for a noodle legs epidemic:

BIG. PUDDLE. OF GOO. Dang.

Here’s a thing I did:

Please tell me you know this is a kiwi. Cuz I showed this to my mother and she yells FIREWORKS! like an excited 4 year old child. So either I’ve nail failed (quite possible) or mama needs to go sit down in the back (also quite possible). Regardless, I love her. This mani though? Not so much.

Used the What’s Up Nails B008 plate, which is full of fun fruit designs for people who nail art in more appropriate ways.

The other new collection available is this fun little cutie pie, the Little Owlet Duo:

This duo is a collaboration between Lindsay and Jenalyn from the Two Girls One Blush blog. And no, it’s not particularly summery but OMG these are the polishes of my everyday dreams. Did someone cover me in a thousand toasty blankets and hand me a bunch of kittens?  Might as well have.

First half of the duo is Bubbly Little Owlet:

Who needs a medium brown linear holo with copper shimmer, taupe and dark brown microflakies, white flakes and gold flakes in their life?  Pretty much everyone, so lucky you, you’re buying it.

Under the lamp, she shines:

And now a macro EXTRAVAGANZA!:

Cat hair on the pinky FOR FREE!

Last half of the duo is Gloomy Little Owlet:

So this one is a dark brown linear holo with gold flakes and white flakes. Opaque in two quick coats, so perfect for those who like to go do stuff. Like socialize with friends or be Mom of the Year. Perhaps you enjoy saving the world from war and poverty.  I, on the other hand, will just be sitting here having my husband bring me stuff on his way back from the kitchen.

DREAM SCENARIO, is what I’m saying.

Under the lamps, and OMG … ladylike composure is officially out the window:

More macros, more drool:

I don’t know what white flakies are all about, but I pretty much need them everywhere and all around me.  Plus Starbucks and a Leonardo on top.  I may never leave my house again.  No pants for everyone!

Both of these polishes are awesome two coaters, easy to apply and absolutely lovely.  They got me right in the feels, guys.  They got me real good.

The round up:

Both of these collections are available now, so who’s about to have the best day ever?  (You, to be clear.)  Engage: Shopping Hand in 3 .. 2 .. 1 ..

The Beach Life collection retails for $33 or you can get a single bottle for $9; the Little Owlet duo is $20 or a single bottle retails for $10.50.

But what is all this single bottle nonsense anyway?  A damn moot point, that’s what.  All six of these beauties, in the cart, stat.  AND THEN!  I have a coupon code.  Use SOR10 for 10% off, then congratulate yourself on your savvy ways.

Later, loves!

The Color Box: PINK

Standard

GUYS. One of the coolest things is happening to me and it surprisingly doesn’t involve Leonardo and a wedding dress. Y’all heard of The Color Box where five indie makers and five bloggers come together and make nail polish magic?   Wellllll, someone out there felt like my blog full of nonsense and the swatches I make on top of my sad white sausages might actually be a good thing, cuz I snagged me a cushy little spot in it.   GAH!  Excuse me while I pass out for a second, cuz while I’ve won stuff before (i.e., 48 rolls of toilet paper in the work raffle), this right here is sooooo much better – with capital letters, exclamation points and a Starbucks on top.

So thank you to the lovely three creators (Manna, Jen and Julie) of this awesome box who kindly invited me to participate and make all my nail polish dreams come true.  I mean, it was either this or a crap ton of nail art mojo, and I figure Baby Jesus is gonna come through with that mojo thing for me any day now anyway.  Cuz I’ve paid my dues in that department.  I mean, where there is a nail fail, there is also me stamping all the things with my eyes closed.  Blah.

Anyway.  The Color Box.  I freaking did it.  An award is coming soon, I just know it.

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

So each quarter, the members of The Color Box group on Facebook nominate a color theme for the upcoming box.  This time around, we got some PINK coming your way.  Who feels like drooling in a thousand tiny buckets?  EVERY DADGUM ONE OF US, that’s who.  Brace yourself for a pink EXTRAVAGANZA!  In 3 … 2 … 1 …

Told ya.

First up is the collaboration I did with Lindsay from Night Owl Lacquer:

This is Yes Way Rosé, a wine toned pink with light pink metallic microflakies, pink crystal microflakies and various sizes of lime green to gold color shifting iridescent glitters.  So many goodies!  How this one doesn’t cost like a billion dollars defies all the comprehensions.  It’s the prettiest of all things pretty, and if I’m gonna toot my own horn for the next 18 years, I’d say it’s legit no joke justified at this point.  It’s everything I wanted this polish to be.  Lindsay, you are a rock star.  I’m assistant rock star, though, to be clear.

Two coats of lovely!  And happiness, everywhere

Macros, for extra drool factor:

You done died. You did.

Next up is the collaboration with Melissa from My Lacquer Cabinet and Britt with Bad Bitch Polish:

This is Marilyn Mon-Rose, a bubblegum pink with gold flakies and a bit of blue and violet shift.  I did two coats of this one and I just lub it so much. Nice and shimmery but not over the top.  It’s not SHIMMER! with jazz hands, but more just shimmer with like some sweatpants on. Comfy casual shimmer is what I’m saying.

And then I went outside:

See what I do for you? Put pants on and everything.  Best blogger ever, let’s just say.

Closeup of the goodies:

Those dainty little flakies, they got me. Got me good, guys.

Now here’s the collaboration between Manna with Manna’s Manis and Amy with Top Shelf Lacquer:

This is Manna’s Mystifying Masterpiece, a super hot blinding pink neon crelly with purple fleck.  And all I got to say about this one is, YEP.  Sounds about right.  This little lady confused my camera, hardcore.  It’s soooooo bright and ultra pass-out-y.  Like, if anyone has one of those old fashioned Victorian fainting couches, wheel me over one, stat.  Cuz neon’s got me feeling some kind of way, and if I’m gonna go getting unattractive, I’m gonna at least be a lady about it.

Oh, but the Ugly Ecstasy Face is so dire.  I’m quite the catch you might say.

My eyes, my eyes!  Seriously, it’s getting ridiculous in here.  Are you sweaty?  Cuz I’m sweaty.

Next is the collaboration with Tiffany from Polish & Paws and Julie with Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer:

This one is Hiding Dory, a coral pink packed with aqua shimmer, fine turquoise shimmer and gold microflakies.  It’s elegant and lovely and perfect if you feel like holding tiny sandwiches later.  Cuz tea with Queen just happens sometimes, and it helps to be prepared.  Also, you’re 2.5 seconds from HAND MODEL! with this one. Cuz hers a pretty lady, that’s why.

Surely by this point, you’re buying like 27 boxes or something?  Cuz why be rational at a time like this.

Macros, to aid the convincing:

Doh!  There goes my ladylike composure.

Finally here’s the collaboration between Jen from XOXO Jen and Sara with Cupcake Polish:

This is Cyberpink, a hot pink holographic packed with super shiny silver flakies.  OMG.  Lolling tongues alert!  Seriously, I don’t even think I can act natural anymore.  It’s noodle legs plus drool buckets divided by reattaching your jaw at least 18,000 times.  Someone just needs to lock me in a room by myself lest hubby walks in and feels sad about the puddle of goo he’s married to.

In other words, if this one doesn’t end up all over your surfaces, I am var var concerned about your brain.

Let’s seal this deal:

It’s bye bye checkbook for you then.  No one’s surprised.

The round up:

Monthly Awareness Polish Box: June 2017

Standard

Current status:  in a hotel room in Chicago.  Wrapped in a pink fluffy robe, iPad in the window, typing away à la Carrie Bradshaw and feeling super fancy.  Hair piled on top of my head, drinking Voss water out of a wine glass, and a gorgeous view of skyscrapers is all around me.  OMG, am I in a movie?  Let’s see, three empty Starbucks cups, a no-pants situation in progress, and Leonardo is nowhere to be found.  Still wearing orthopedic shoes and skinny is taking its damn sweet time.  I mean, I caught a view of my butt in a the Bathroom of a Thousand Mirrors, and now I’m just gonna sit here and cry for the next 37 years.

In other words, NOPE.  Just real life in all it’s forgot to shave my legs glory.  Weeeeee!

A quick blog for you today, so afterwards I can get my life back on track or something.  I have the Monthly Polish Awareness Box for June to review for you all, and like usual, every last one of these is headed for your shopping cart.  Cuz how often do you get the chance to hoard all the polish and donate to charity all at the same time?  Like never, I swear it.  Anyone in the mood for some serious legit justification then?  Well, here you all go…

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Each month, the Monthly Awareness Polish Box partners with six awesome indie brands who create exclusive, customized nail polishes to fit the theme of that month’s charity.  For June, Courtney has chosen to donate to the PTSD Foundation of America, a non-profit organization mentoring combat veterans and their families with post traumatic stress.  I can’t think of a better way to spend some money today.  Take a look at these:

Well, isn’t that one of the prettiest things you ever saw?  Seen?  You’ve ever seen?  Ugh.  One can’t grammar at a time like this.  The point is, you lub it lots.  Now let’s focus; there’s serious business up ahead.

First up is from Alter Ego:

This is Look Past the Sun, a dark yellow jelly with holographic red and black fine glitter.  It’s a pretty sheer one; my swatch is three coats and you can still see my nail line.  But it’s quite a unique shade – I don’t have a single one like it – and after roughly 1500 polishes up on my shelves at this point, that’s some good odds.  So, there may be a lottery ticket EXTRAVAGANZA! later, which makes sense considering the sheer amount of normal behavior on display over here.  Superhuman, to say the least.

Close up of the goodies:

Gah! You want!

Next up is from Pretty Beautiful Unlimited:

This is Overcoming Nightmares, a medium red holographic with lavender shimmer, silver and pink glitters and micro shreds, blue to purple shifting micro glitters, and a smattering of crystal chameleon flakes.  Whyyyyy, that’s a whole lot of pretty all in one place!  Plus magic, plus happiness.  If it came with a side of Starbucks, no one’s surprised.  PERFECTION, is what I’m saying.

Two coats; lookin so fly:

A delicious macro:

Who wants to lick that one?!  Except SOCIETY says NO.  Boooo.

Now here’s one from Darling Diva Polish:

This is I’m a Survivor, a topper loaded with Pegasus pee, a light sprinkling of holo, color shifting glitters and holo flakes.  My swatch shows it not as a topper, cuz I don’t plan things very well.  Instead, I applied three coats over naked nails, and while it’s still kind of sheer, the ethereal quality of it is jaw droppingly stunning.  Like, a puddle of goo scenario is happening next, I’m quite certain.

Check out that glow:

Macro, for extra drool factor:

If you’re not super hardcore in love with this right now, we need to talk about some things.

From Night Owl Lacquer:

This is Not All Wounds are Visible, a luscious teal with bright purple shimmer, purple to blue shifting iridescent shreds and a nice dose of scattered holo.  GUYS.  It’s time to roll the couches over cuz it’s super pass-out-y in about 2.5 seconds.  Bring the smelling salts and one of those cute boys holding a leaf fan.  Cuz you can’t just toss in a purple and blue dreamboat and then expect anything ladylike to happen next.  Nope, it’s sweaty to, like, the trillionth degree.

Everything Lindsay makes is perfection.  I dare you to determine otherwise.

An ocean of lovely:

COMPOSURE:  out the window.

Next up is from Sassy Pants Polish:

This is Don’t Trigger Me, a bright hot pink jelly with assorted iridescent glitters and white holographic microglitters with a blue shimmer.  And aside from all that, I’ll just be over here reattaching my jaw to my face about 18,000 times.  BRB.

My eyes, my eyes!  That blue shimmer is so glowy and those glitters give me a severe case of the GRABBY FINGERS.  At minimum.

Doh!  How will I ever remain upright again?

Lastly, from O-My Jewels:

This is There But Not, a creamy pale blue with holographic sparkly microglitter.  All you blue lovers, pay attention!  This one has your name written alllllll over it.  (Seriously.  I checked.)  Walking out of this blog with approximately 27 bottles of this beauty in your cart?   Sounds about right.  Cuz you don’t get to CRAZY NAIL LADY by being rational, let’s just say.

To seal the deal:

Oooooh, you’re about to spend some money I can already tell.  Best day EVER coming up next!

The round up:

Pre-sale for this box opens on Friday, May 26 and will run until June 9. Cost is $52 + shipping and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the PTSD Foundation of America. You also have the option to just buy one polish or a set of 4, although that point is moot since we’ve already decided. All six, darlings!

To purchase, click here. Then stalk the mailman cuz it’s the most logical next step.

If you’d like to keep up to date on future Monthly Awareness Polish boxes (and you do), go give their Facebook page a like (click here) and follow them on Instagram (click here). And then as long as you’re clicking on stuff, here’s more fun:

And now you may get back into pajamas. Cuz good decisioning is hard work sometimes.

Night Owl Lacquer: Polish Pickup May 2017

Standard

If coughing and sneezing can be counted as cardio, I’d be sooooo freakin skinny by now.  Ugh.  I am not well, guys.  I have either allergies or a cold, but either way, I am a snotty, snorty, accidental peeing kind of mess.  Super good looking, as you might imagine.  Cuz nothing says Hello, Sexy! quite like a wife with the voice of a man and a wad of Kleenex hanging out her nose.  If I stay married after this, we’ll all be surprised. Although, hubby sees me let my fat out after pasta all the time, so maybe there’s a chance.

Hubby says I’m sick cuz I don’t go to bed like a normal person.  Apparently 5 hours of sleep per night isn’t enough to function properly.  I don’t know if that’s true or not, but you don’t get to be NAIL BLOGGER EXTRAORDINAIRE by going to bed before 2am, I’m almost certain.  And of course, my fake bakery needs enough cake for all its customers, and that doesn’t just happen all by itself.

I’m trying to get better though, trying to strike a nice balance between doing nails and keeping myself alive.  One day I’ll hit my stride, and figure it all out.  I suppose as long as sandwiches keep coming (and Mucinex at this point), I’ll be doing alright.

So while I sit here behaving all sorts of unattractive, let’s get to the point.  The May Polish Pickup is just around the corner, and I know y’all just dying to get out your grabby fingers.  There’s about 17 brands participating this month with some pretty amazing polishes, so if there was ever a right time to get off your no-buys, now would be it.  It’s a bye bye checkbook type situation for you, in case you didn’t know.

I have a couple of the offerings to show you this week, so let’s start with this beauty from Night Owl Lacquer.  Here is Collapsed Star:

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Excuse me.  I’m gonna need some smelling salts and someone to come hold my mouth shut, stat.

Each month, the members of the Polish Pickup Facebook group get to submit and vote on a theme.  May’s theme is Science, and Lindsay chose this beautiful photo as her inspiration.  Take a look at this:

Now take a look at this:

Basically twins.

This polish has a black base and it’s loaded with green shimmer, black holo microglitter, blue and green galaxy holo glitter and electric blue flakies.  That’s a ton of goodies! And it’s so deliciously perfect, I’m about 2.5 seconds away from HAND MODEL!, I just know it.

And now, for extra drool factor:

I die, I die! Dark polishes like this have me feeling some type of way, for sure.

So this is how this thing works.  The Polish Pickup shop goes live on Friday, May 5 at 11am EST.  At approximately 11am and 1 second, you’re tossing every single one of these in your shopping cart.   Plus 27 backup bottles.  Then you’re gonna get back into pajamas cuz you’ve had a hard day.

In case you’re unable to prioritize properly, the shop will stay open until Monday, May 8 at 11:59pm EST. After that, every last one of these polishes:  GONE.  Forever.  As in POLISH EMERGENCY! so be sure to get your life in order or else it’s a sad state of affairs for you.

Prices for the polishes are all different; Collapsed Star in particular will retail at $9.  Shipping is a flat rate of $3 no matter if you buy one polish or if you buy all of them.  I don’t do the maths too well, but I’m thinking that’s a pretty good deal.

To get in on sneak peeks and future voting for monthly themes, click here to the join the Polish Pickup Facebook group.  Then when May 5 rolls around, click here for shopping!  DO EEEEEET.  I mean it.

More tomorrow.  Later, loves!

Night Owl Lacquer: Light & Bright Collection

Standard

Someone found a dead bat in their salad last week, and this is why I eat chips.  I mean, if there was ever a reason to justify an entire bag of Funyuns and a whole lotta private time, this would be it.  Cuz no one ever got rabies from Funyuns.  No one got skinny either, but that is beside the point.

In other food related news, hubby and I were splitting a donut in the car after work and my half was sitting on a napkin on his leg.  Then he moved half an inch (because he doesn’t love me, probably) and my donut fell onto the floor where nail polish peelies and weird ends of french fries (you know, poison) go to die.  It was seriously like a scene from the saddest movie you ever saw.  I tried super hard not to cry and hubby felt so terrible because – of course! – he got to eat his half of the donut, with extra moan-y food noises and everything.  But now I get a pony so I guess it all worked out.

Aside from all that, it’s the weekend.  What I lack in donut, I make up in happiness.  It’s hard to be sad when I can have schnapps in my coffee for two days straight.  And 48 hours worth of pajamas.  Hooray!

To celebrate, let’s look at pretty things!  I have the new Light & Bright collection from Night Owl Lacquer to share with you today. It’s neon season, so naturally you’re gonna want every last one of these.  Cuz no one does crazy nail lady quite like you!  Take a look:

My eyes, my eyes!  Seriously, how in love are you right now?  Like super hardcore, bordering on unhealthy, maybe?  I mean, it’s the only logical reaction, pretty sure.

This collection contains six gorgeous cremes plus four awesome glitter toppers – that’s ten whole polishes in case you don’t math well.  We’ll look at the toppers later; the cremes already have their jazz hands on.  Lessssss go!  Here’s a rundown of all the colors, in rainbow order cuz you don’t get to OCD, Level EXPERT by doing things in a stupid way.

First up is Persist, a light neon pink crème:

Next is Inspire, a neon coral crème:

This is Imagine, a light neon yellow crème:

Drool break!

Now, FOCUS.

Here’s Wish, a light neon green crème:

This one is Dream, a light neon blue crème:

Lastly, here’s Believe, a light neon purple crème:

These neons are delicious!  The formula on each is a two coat dreamboat, goes on smooth and levels out all by itself.  Consistently good across the board and jaw droppingly pretty.  I don’t know what you’ve got going on neon-wise at your house, but every last one of these is going in the shopping cart cuz that’s how this thing works.  I show you pretty things, and then you die a little.  After that, you buy 27 backup bottles in case of accidental painting of all the surfaces.

As mentioned already – but we’ve all drooled in a thousand buckets since then – Lindsay has added four sparkly toppers.  Take a look at these:

Gah!  You should see the situation is this room right now.  Ugly ectasy face sounds about right.

First up is It’s All Rainbows & Unicorns, layered on top of Persist:

This topper has a clear base packed full of various sizes of crystal rainbow shifting flakies.  Ugh, did someone say iridescence?  I’m officially a puddle of goo.  Bye bye.

Next is Sunshine, layered on top of Inspire:

Sunshine has a clear base full of gold galaxy holo glitters.  It is sparkly and blingy and a complete driving hazard.  Seriously, the curbs come out of nowhere with this one.

This is Moonlight, layered on top of Imagine:

How am I still upright?  The sheer amount of perseverence on display right now is downright superhuman.  Fainting couches for everyone!  And cute boys holding leaf fans.  I mean, as long as we’re making a list.

Imagine is a clear base full of silver galaxy holo glitters.  I’m about 2.5 seconds from sticking my fingers in peoples’ faces, although strangers don’t wanna look at mah nails! quite like you’d expect.  What, with being normal and all that.

Another shot of Sunshine, layered over Wish:

Last topper is Light Up the Shadows, layered over Dream:

This is just the cutest thing!  And it was super spread-y, which is nice for a topper with larger glitters.  Cuz I don’t feel like spending 18 years doing manual glitter placement, cuz that is EFFORT, and I don’t take kindly to that kind of thing.  I mean, if there’s effort to be done, it better involve mashed potatoes at the very least.

OMG, what?  Shut up, brain.

Light Up the Shadows is a clear base with various sizes of matte black and white glitter and opalescent glitter.  Some of the glitters in here appeared blue which is why I paired it up with this polish.  But it was just a weird lighting situation.  Or a science experiment in progress.

Another look using It’s All Rainbows & Unicorns, this time layered over Believe:

The round up:

The Light & Bright collection released just a few hours ago, so who’s having the best day ever now?  (You, to be clear.)  And if you’re not properly convinced how much you need these (possibly due to no eyes or a black soul), here’s three things you might enjoy:

1. The crèmes glow in blacklight, which will come in handy for those with a more exciting life than me.

2. They watermarble, which naturally I have zero nail art to show you.  Best blogger ever, is what you’re thinking.

3. They stamp. Officially, all your dreams just came true.

Here’s the deets:

Individual bottles $7

The entire set of 10 polishes retails for $60

Set of 6 crèmes only is $38

Set of 4 toppers only is $26 – and for real, this is a great, must-have set of toppers

Night Owl Lacquer: Dreaming of Green Collection

Standard

Anyone else go to bed last night and have a last second thought of a bug crawling into your ear and digging tunnels through your brain?  No?  Well, crap.  Why do you insist on me being the ONLY weird one?  We are supposed to be sharing this burden TOGETHER.  Rule #748506 of reading this blog.

Today is not a good day for me.  I feel extremely round right now.  Could be the plate of carbs I had for lunch.  Potatoes AND rice.  And nothing else.  DUMB.  And the fact it took 10 years to take a selfie at my desk cuz people kept walking by me.  Ugh.  Even dumber-er.  Plus, if you have to text your hubby asking if candy is coming instead of it just appearing in your hand like magic, you know you’ve got some issues to deal with.

Although there are two things to be grateful for at the moment.  First, despite what I said up top, it’s Friday, so even when it’s a bad day, it’s still pretty good one.  Secondly, and most importantly, this weekend Daylight Savings Time begins.  I am beside myself with joy.  I loooooooove Daylight Savings Time.  I love daylight, period.  The more sunlight I get, the happier I am.  I’m pretty sure that’s a medical condition of some kind, in which case I should stay in pajamas from November to March.  Or be pushed around in a wheelie cart, AT MINIMUM.

I know I lose one hour of sleep due to the time change, and normally I’m not interested in that one bit; however, this is pretty much the only acceptable excuse for it.  Well, unless there’s a Leonardo involved somehow, that is.  Actually lots of things are negotiable at that point.

So while I sit here and eat this bag of M&Ms I don’t need (candy came after all!), let’s look at pretty things.  I have the most amazing display of green you’ve ever seen.  Seriously.  I have proof.  Take a look:

Gah!  Who’s having the best day ever now?

This is the Night Owl Lacquer Dreaming of Green collection, and I promise to Baby Jesus that Lindsay made these alllll for ME!  We are best friends after all, even though we didn’t exchange rings or make an announcement on Facebook or anything.  Quite possible she doesn’t even know it, but let me assure you WE ARE.  Cuz this friendship is reciprocal whether she wants it or not.

First up is New Beginnings:

I mean, do you see why green is my favorite?  DO YOU?!  It’s such a flattering shade on (I’d imagine) every skin tone.  It is the color of fresh and new and clean.  Of spring, warmth, sunshine and music.  A basketful of kitties and a room full of office supplies.  All of life’s happiness poured into a bottle.  That’s what green is, in case you didn’t know.

This one is a dark olive green packed with bright copper shimmer and copper flecks.  Under the lamps, it’s absolutely stunning.  Is it glowing?  I think yes.

You done died.  You did.

Time for macros!

Here’s some nail art I did:

So very simple, but I think it turned out pretty.  Used the Uber Chic Beauty St. Patrick’s Day plate for this Celtic knot pattern, and if I wasn’t much of an Irish lass before, I am 100% one now.  Probably on a horse galloping through the ocean, cuz that makes the most logical sense.

I like this nail art, is what I’m trying to say.

Next up is Wildflower Meadows:

What a fabulously unique shade!  My heart hurts just looking at it.  GUYS.  I don’t think I’m gonna make it to the end of this blog, cuz how can I while I keep dying every 2.5 seconds?  Quick!, roll a couch over.  Bring some smelling salts.  And a Starbucks, just in case.

Another version, just for funsies:

This little lady is a gorgeous leaf green with a bright purple shimmer and violet, light pink, dark pink and blue holo shreds. You can really see the shimmer stand out when it’s under the lamps.  See the bottle for best view cuz the glare of my lights on my nails just about ruined everything.  Ugh.  Rude.

Lolling tongues alert:

Those shreds are everything!  Lindsay nailed the wildflower theme on this one.  Looking at this polish reminds me of exactly that.

So naturally, I did this nail art:

Of lightning.  Well, of course I did.

I used the Moyra Dreamology 27 plate, which you can buy from the Cosette Nail Shop.  I actually think this is a marble pattern, but on the green base, it looks sorta like a summer storm scene to me.  Regardless, though, I really love how it turned out.

Now here’s The Grass is Greener Where You Water It:

I’m having trouble keeping my jaw attached to my face over here.  SEND HELP.

I swear, if my husband wasn’t in the room, I’d totally lick this one a little bit.  It looks so juicy and delicious!  I mean, I know it tastes like poison and it might actually kill me, but what if – WHAT IF! – it doesn’t?  What if it’s a green apple Jolly Rancher and I’ve just been wasting so much time sitting here being normal and whatnot?  What is the point in life if you can’t eat a bit of nail polish every now and then?  I ask you, WHAT IS THE POINT?

This one is a gorgeous grass green packed full of micro flakes that subtly shift from gold to green plus scattered holo for maximum drool effect.  Not even joking.  Grab your buckets!

Drooling, level EXPERT.

The happiest of nail art:

Used the B. Loves Plates Leaves of Happiness plate on this one, and I stinkin’ LOVE IT.  Are these mannequin hands?  Just about.  This mani is basically perfect.  Bah!  Someone get me my horn so I can toot it.  Kthanksbye.

Next up is Feelin’ Lucky:

Oh my goodness, will the drooling ever end?

NO.

I’m telling you, guys.  If all 5 of these don’t end up in your shopping cart, I question the state of your brain.  There’s no logical reason I can think of why you’re walking away.  Maybe you have no eyes, I dunno.  But after that, no reason at all.

This one is a bright lime green jelly with color shifting iridescent glitters.  It also glows in black light, which will come in handy for those who lead more interesting lives than me.

A jelly ocean of loveliness:

Don’t look at this nail art:

Don’t do it!  Ugh.  I’m not sure if I like this or not.  I was trying to do something different than all the nails the same, but then I kinda feel like I stamped all the things, even though I really didn’t.  What do you all think?

Used the Uber Chic Beauty St. Patrick’s Day plate again in case recreations are in order.  Just kidding.  Bahaha.

Lastly, here’s Renewal:

What a dreamboat!  This is the PERFECT spring color for me.  It’s pastel but slightly darker to make it more special (for me, cuz my skin is see-thru and unattractive), but it’s still delicate and fresh and super ladylike.  Perfect for tea with the Queen, you know, as happens from time to time.

So this one is a precious mint green with gold shimmer and gold micro flakies.  The shimmer is pretty intense – braggy if you will – but we love her despite of it.  I mean, we realllly love her.  In fact, as soon as hubby leaves the room, I’m painting all the surfaces with this one.  Not my fault, though.  There’s no other choice at this point.

Also, I need supervision to save me from me.  Clearly.

One more macro, one more ginormous drool bucket:

A reflection of my pink robe is in the label:

Oh, and there’s nail art too, just FYI.

Used the Uber Chic Beauty 14-02 plate if you’re curious.  There’s a few unruly pieces on this one, but it mostly turned out okay.  I did a subtle gradient in case you can’t really tell.  More lavender towards the cuticle; darker up top.  But man that shimmer sure is coming through loud and clear.  Braggy again.  Tsk tsk, that girl.

The round up:

First things first, you’re buying all these.  Don’t even think otherwise.  I mean it.

Secondly, this collection released one hour ago, so you’re approximately 60 minutes late.  Go go go!  It’s a polish emergency.

Here’s the deets:

Full collection is $42

Single bottles are $9, although this is a moot point (Right? Right.)

Annnnnnnd THEN!  There’s a discount code for readers of my blog.  Use SOR10 at checkout for 10% off your order, save some money, and be sure to tell Lindsay thank you for being so sweet.

Also, I like Visa gift cards, you know, if you’re not busy.
