Night Owl Lacquer: Love Trio and the Facebook Group Custom

Standard

Maybe I should’ve vacuumed all the nail polish peelies from my cup holder before handing my car over to the valet.  Cuz today, I found one of them laying on my floorboard, which means at some point a peelie was stuck to some stranger’s finger before they flung it off, and most likely they are grossed out and judging me right now.  I don’t know why, but I’m less embarrassed by the empty Funyun bags and car door full of used Kleenex.

It’s not like I’m collecting nail peelies in my car or anything, although I’m certainly not making much of a case for myself at the moment.  It’s just on my way home from work, I have a couple minutes to be useful (aside from the driving and not dying and whatnot). I figure by consolidating my time, multi-tasking and being efficient, the whole 30 seconds I saved by removing my polish in the car means I won’t be up until 2am doing nails on a work night.  Not once has this proven to be true, but that is a moot point.

I used to put the peelies on my leg and then hand the whole lot of them to my husband when I was done.  He didn’t really enjoy that, though, even though it was a gift and a part of me I loved.  So now I’ve started tossing them in the cup holder with all good intentions of cleaning them out more often than zero times in the last six months.  Maybe this whole valet thing will kick me in gear, but then again, my level of procrastination is damn near EXPERT so who honestly knows.  I  mean, I bought my car 3 year ago and have only gone through the car wash approximately 7 times.

Pretty sure that’s not normal.

So while you contemplate that sad bit of news, let’s look at pretty things.  Another awesome collection from Night Owl Lacquer coming your way today!  I have their new Love Trio plus their very first Facebook group custom polish to show you. And a special little prize for those who read all the way to the bottom.  Get ready!  Lesssss go!

Welp, this is starting out well.  This is the dark side of Valentine’s Day and I freakin love it!  Gimme all your blacks and your reds and your deep, vampy purples. I’m the happiest of all things happy right now.  Lindsay is a real pro, and she knows exactly what I like.  And so now we are best friends whether she wants it or not.

First up is Love Hate:

Nom, nom, nom!  Jelly!  Good gracious, I want to lie in a huge bathtub full of that.  Is that weird?  Prolly.

This one is a black jelly with red holo micro glitter, red holo shreds and silver flecks.  I can’t think of any better interpretation of a love/hate relationship than this one right here.  It’s glorious!  Easy application with two coats  of perfection.  Made of magic, voodoo, and loads of fairy dust.  Why this thing doesn’t cost a BILLION DOLLARS is beyond me.

My attempt at Valentine’s nail art:

Well, it’s not the worst thing you’ve ever seen right?  Cuz that’d be my cup holder full of nail peelies, or so says the valet.

Lip image is courtesy of the Lina All About Love 01 plate.  If you haven’t picked up this plate yet, you are not very good at goals, then.

Next up is Love:

Are you hot? Cuz I’m hot.  I’m just gonna lie down on the floor here and pass out for a second, okay?  BRB.

This sexy little mama is a bright red jelly packed with silver holo shreds.  My favorite way to wear red – dump in a bunch of sparkly things.  This one is perfect for your Valentine’s date night with your sweetie.  You’ll be hand modeling all night with this one.  Pointing at menu items with your flashy fingertip.  Holding a wine glass or a salt shaker like you’re about to give them away as prizes.  For real, Vanna White only wishes she were you.

Not as good Valentine’s nail art:

I don’t hate it, but its definitely not as cute as the first one.  The lines in this image were pretty fragile, and didn’t wanna behave very well.  I suppose it turned out alright in the end – you can tell those are hearts inside those little circles at least. Unlike what usually happens when I nail fail.  Take a look at this owl I painted and tell me he’s not on meth.  Click here for a laugh.

The plate I used on this one is the Uber Chic Beauty Love & Marriage 02 plate.  You know, if you’re taking notes.

Last polish in the trio is Unicorn Love:

You done died.  You did.  For real, how are you even standing upright anymore?

This one is a deep purple jelly with blue, pink and violet holo shreds.  The macro showing off the goods is plain ridiculous.  For real, the amount of willpower on display over here is quite superhuman if you ask me.  Cuz seriously, I’m about two wine coolers short of wearing this all over my body.  But HR is watching; they are alwaaaaaaays watching.

And then I did this thing:

Again, not terrible, but no award winner. However, I do love the way this polish looks with a matte top coat.  For that fact alone, I give this a half-hearted toot toot! on the ole horn.  Not a full blown toot because I am humble and wise.  And best blogger ever in case you’re curious.

Used the Lina All About Love 01 plate on this one, by the way.  An awesome plate, but we’ve discussed that before.  You read this blog from the top down, right?  Didn’t just jump in here in the middle somewhere like a crazy person.

Finally, here is the very first Facebook group custom that Lindsay has ever done.  I give you, The Fire Within:

Straight up DREAMY is it not?  One of my absolute favorite color combos.  It’s such a striking mix and gives me massive feels.  Looking at this soothes my soul, makes me close my eyes and smile like an idiot.  A sigh might come out and incoherent throat noises.  Words are leaving me, people.  Just moans for the rest of the day.

On this, we have a medium grey creme with bright red shimmer, red holo shreds and silver flecks.  You almost get a sense of purple or taupe when the red reflects off that grey, and that’s my absolute favorite part.

Uhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnn.

See?  DONE.  Get me one of those old fashioned fainting couches cuz I need to lay down, stat. Bring Leonardo, just in case.

Final nail art:

Super simple look, but I think it’s rather pretty.  Plus, the matte top coat I used here just took this polish to Crazy Town.  Who wants to matte all the things now?  I do I do!

The rose stem image came from the Uber Chic Beauty Love & Marriage 02 plate, another favorite.  Clearly, I’m very easy to please.

The round up:

Get ready, guys, cuz this collection plus the Facebook group custom all release TONIGHT, February 10 at 10pm MST (or midnight EST). Which means you have less than 24 hours to get your priorities straight.  Night Owl Lacquer up top, y’all!  I’m not even joking.

Don’t forget – if you want to order The Fire Within (and you do), you gotta be a member of the Facebook fan group.  So here’s your to-do list:

Click here to join the group.

Once approved, view the pinned post at the top.  There’s a 20% off coupon in there you don’t want to miss.  Offer is valid until 2/17, so now is a good time to go.  Not an emergency, but it kinda is.

Then click here to purchase all your pretties.

How easy was that?  And you get polish at the end of it.  Don’t you wish all errands came with nail polish?  I guarantee dishes would get done roughly 17 times a day.

Retail price is $25 for the Love Trio set and $9 for single bottles and the group custom.  Done, done and done.  You won’t be sorry, I swear.

Last but not least, if somehow you fail to complete your to-do list in a timely manner, FIRST, something is wrong with your brain.  Then second, I have a coupon code you can use if the other one has expired.  Type in SOR10 during checkout and save 10% at any time.  Best day ever then?  A billion percent yes.

Later, loves!

Night Owl Lacquer: Winter Blues Trio

Standard

I was gonna start this blog by talking about the Winter Apocalypse that never came, but I’m afraid I might jinx myself.  Technically, the storm system isn’t really out of the area yet, and I have a weekend road trip happening in the morning that cannot be ruined.  And I know the second I laugh in the face of Mother Nature who veered a little too far north is the same second she yanks out her earrings and pops off her Lee Press-Ons and declares a cat fight.

But I am no good at fighting.  The closest I got was in 6th grade when I slapped a girl in the ear.  IN THE EAR.  Trust me when I say any street cred I might’ve had up to that point = instantly revoked.  Never mind the fact I was Spelling Bee Champion of 1987 or that one of my prized possessions was my notebook full of fashion descriptions of every outfit Janet and Chrissy wore during reruns of  Three’s Company.  Or that I used to purposefully step on cow patties cuz I didn’t know cow patties were made of poop.

I was a very strange and sheltered child, you might say.

But my point – I know, you forgot there was one – is that I have also forgotten my point so we’re just gonna move on to the polish before something else stupid slips out.

On the blog today is the Winter Blues Trio from Night Owl Lacquer, a spectacular stunning set of three blue beauties.   Take a look:

This very well could be the elusive Winter Apocalypse we were talking about (oh yeah, my point!), except this is one you’d actually want.  I love the look of these and how the range goes from icy to deep.  If you’re a blue lover, you’re gonna wanna pass out for just a second.  Now FOCUS.  Cuz here we go!

First up is Winter Wonderland:

Isn’t this absolutely dreamy?  Like it might be made out of literal dreams.  It’s elegant and so fresh and clean.  And if you find yourself having tea with the Queen – as happens to most of us, probably – you can wear this polish and be proud.  With pinkies up, of course.

This one has a white crelly base with this amazing, glowy bright blue shimmer with bright blue micro glitter and shreds.  I did three thin coats, but could’ve stopped at two if I did them thicker.  The formula here is nice and smooth.  Crellies can be so iffy at times, but Lindsay knows her stuff.  Plus, that blue shimmer just kills you.  Like, you just THOUGHT it was a simple white, but then BAM!  Dead.  Every time.

See:

Gah!  So pretty.  This polish makes me infinitely happy.

And then I nail arted, guys, and actually did something decent:

Aaaaahhhhh!  Let’s give a little toot toot! for this one, shall we?  I used some cool slanted lines vinyls from What’s Up Nails, and they turned out so crisp.  Not sure if it was luck or Baby Jesus, but either way, I WIN.

Nex up is Frozen in Time:

Okay, now it’s just getting ridiculous.  Lindsay, did you just voodoo this one into being or what?  It’s magical perfection.  Seriously, I’m gonna need a minute to collect myself.  A Starbucks and a massage should do the trick.  And like one of those pillows that’s as big as your body.

So this one is a silvery blue polish with bright blue flakes and an almost foil-like finish.  Two smooth coats, of course.  Under the lamps, the foil really stands out:

Welp, you’re buying all these.  I’ve already decided.

Ugh, I just read the part about the cow patties to my husband, and then he took off his wedding ring and handed it to me.  He doesn’t understand about the no-TMI rule in here.  I mean, if you can’t throw in a random poop story every once in a while, what is the point of this blog?  I ask you, WHAT IS THE POINT?

More good nail art.  Who am I?!

I double stamped an image from the Lina 4 Seasons-Winter 01 plate.  I think they’re snowflakes, could be asterisks.  I’m var var tired right now, and hubby is blasting music in the other room cuz he thinks it’s helping me blog.  IT’S NOT.

Last polish in the trio is Midnight Snowfall:

Hands down.  Favorite.  Love me some dark polish, man.  This one is crazy deep and just mesmerizing to me.  Like an infinite galaxy or a fathomless ocean.  Or some other fancy poetic thing.  But look at it.  I mean, open your eyes real big and look at it.  No blinking.

Told ya.

This one has a blackened blue jelly base with scattered holo and silver white shifting flakies.  Two things I love here:  jelly polish and flakies.  The effect, well, there’s nothing like it. If you ever catch me looking down at my nails smiling like an idiot, chances are I’m wearing a jelly.

Under the lamps:

And just in case you’re not properly convinced, here’s a macro:

My most favorite nail art:

This is such a simple stamping design, but I stinkin’ love it!  I used an image from the Lina Feeling Shapely 07 plate and stamped silver in one direction and blue in the other.  So technically I made a thing and I’m feeling a bit more confident in my skills.  I mean, the feeling is temporary cuz that’s how my life works.  But still.  I’m just gonna revel in this while I can.

The round up:

As previously mentioned, you’re buying these.  I don’t see any logical reason around it.  I mean, I just told the entire internet a story about cow patties.  You buying this trio is the decent next step.  Here’s the deets:

Entire trio is $25, but you can buy a single color for $9 each.  They just released about an hour ago, so what could be more easy?  Just click here and get to it.  Then go rest; you’ve had a successful day.

But wait!  There’s a discount code.  But you gotta be a member of the fan group to get it.  Click here – it’s free.  And we love free things; oh yes we do.  Once you’re in, click on the Winter Blues Trio Release event and you’ll find the code.

Lastly, Lindsay has added a Create Your Own Collection option to the store.  You can choose 6 polishes (excluding Limited Edition) for $50.  I think it’s a great way to get some pretties and save a bit of money.  Click here for the listing.  And if you need recommendations, I’m full of them, so let me know in the comments.

Okay, I’m headed to the nail table (aka, kitchen table) to do some polishing before bed.  I know I said I was tired, but if the option is nails or sleep, the answer lately seems to be nails.  I may fall asleep at my desk for many micro seconds throughout the day, but that point is and will forever be moot.

Later, loves!

Night Owl Lacquer: Holiday 2016 Collection

Standard

The heating repairman just showed up at our front door, and I legit stayed on the couch in my pajamas and robe because my laziness (and decorum) has no boundaries.  I mean, I don’t know if you’re supposed to put on clothes when strangers come over, but I literally couldn’t generate enough curiosity to find out.  He keeps coming in and out between the heating unit and the thermostat in the living room, and hubby keeps giving me stink eye in a have you no shame! kind of way.  NO, no I don’t have shame.  I have a blog to write, and a couch that needs sat upon, so I basically have no choice but to sit here and look as cute as possible (albeit half naked).

Well, now they’re both talking sports so I’m most likely off the hook anyway.

I have the new Night Owl Lacquer holiday collection to share with you today, and YOU. ARE. EXCITED.  Take a look:

Bling bling!  I’m so loving all these holiday collections lately.  Everyone needs a bit of sparkle, don’t they?  I sure do.  I also apparently need to put clothes on cuz the eyeballing has reached its pinnacle.  My husband is so cute when he’s trying to communicate without words.  And then I act like I don’t understand what he’s saying.  He’s either flirting or doing charades, cuz anything else just wouldn’t make sense.

First up is Twinkling Lights:

Lindsay wanted to create a polish inspired by one of her childhood loves of driving through town looking at Christmas lights.  This was one of my favorite things as well.  Every year, my family drove about an hour away to Christmas Tree Lane just to drive through it a total of 7 minutes.  But they did it for my brother and I because we absolutely loved it.  In June, it was just a trailer park with like refrigerators and cars with no wheels outside.  But in December, it was magical.

This may be considered a glitter topper because it’s sheer enough, but I applied about three coats on top of my naked nails. Full of silver, red and green holo glitters, holographic rainbow glitter, crystal rainbow glitter and rainbow iridescent glitter.   You need this just for the amount of effort that’s in here.  That’s four kinds of glitter, people.    GET ON IT.

And here’s some mediocre nail art:

Meh.

Well, now the pizza man has showed up, so it’s literally pajamas for everyone. Never mind I’m the only one in pajamas, and it’s 2:30 in the afternoon. But whatever. Stop judging me with your eyes.  You have one job and that’s PIZZA.

Next up is Bling It New Year:

My brain has officially stopped holding my mouth shut.  What a lovely silver!  Like, it’s silver but with extra silver.  I don’t even know, except that I’m verging on hysteria over it.  Lindsay, what did you go do?!  It’s the nail polish equivalent of voodoo is what it is.

So we have a silver polish packed with silver holographic glitters and shreds and white micro flakies.  WHITE MICRO FLAKIES?!  Well, I reckon I’m gonna need a bucket full of those.

More mediocre nail art:

I used the Uber Chic Beauty Christmas 02 plate and then filled all the bulbs in with sheer polishes.  It’s called the lead lighting techinique, but I’m no expert.  As you can clearly see.  Ugh.

Oooooh, hubby just handed me a cocktail. It’s officially Laziness Level: EXPERT in here now.

Next up is Sugarplum Dreams:

This is absolutely beautiful. I see no valid reason you’d say otherwise.  This polish almost makes me wanna have my husband get the Christmas tree down from the attic and then watch him assemble it while I have a Starbucks.  Otherwise known as DREAM SCENARIO.

Goodness, that’s pretty.  That blurple base is to die for.  Look closely in that macro and you can see my meager attempt at capturing its bright violet shimmer.  However, the iridescent glitter is like BAM! and the white micro flakies are straight up seducing me.

Better nail art:

If my nails weren’t stunted little nubs, you might be able to tell these are ornaments.  However, I love them anyway.  Used ornament stencils from What’s Up Nails, and then matted the whole thing using the Lucky 13 Lacquer matte top coat, my official new favorite.

Here’s Meet Me Under the Mistletoe:

Well, how else were you going to get through the holidays without a red nail polish?  Basically, Lindsay has saved you.  This is a good one too.  Which doesn’t surprise me, cuz the minute Night Owl Lacquer releases something not amazing, pigs are probably flying and I’ve got pants on.

This is a bright red shimmering shade with red holographic glitter and green/gold iridescent glitter.  So so pretty.  Two coats, smooth like butter.  And I love it so much.  Can’t wait to stick my fingers in people’s faces with this one on.  Completely and 100 percent-ly socially acceptable.

My favorite nail art of the group:

Is this not precious?  I used the Uber Chic Beauty Christmas 02 plate again and they had this layered two step bow image.  Now, I realize I didn’t line up the black outline image as perfect as I could’ve – except on my pinky in a brief moment of geniosity .. geniusness .. geni-something.  Well, you get it.

A chocolate lava cake has appeared out of nowhere. Is this real life? Is Leonardo here too, cuz that’s the only surprise left.

Last but not least is My Love For You is Evergreen:

OMG, my love for you IS evergreen, cuz I’m so dying right now.  Cuz, GREEN.  Always, GREEN.  Forever and ever, GREEN.  This holiday collection – as well as my life – is complete.  We can all sit back down now.

Do you see all that?  Such depth and magic in one little polish.  Green shimmery base with gold color shifting fleck (yes), green micro flecks (uh, yessss) and green holographic glitter (dead).  Lindsay, now look what you’ve done.  I may or may not be in the fetal position right now.  Drooling.  With my eyes half closed.

I’m quite the catch.

Finally, nail art:

Added some fun candy cane stripes using the Lina Feeling Shapely 01 plate, plus I had this cute little charm from the Cosette Nail Shop that just went perfect.  If I do say so.  And I do.  I did!  I said so.

Oh my god, shut up, brain.

The round up:

This holiday collection retails for $42 or you can get single polishes for $9 each.  However, if you’d like to save a bit of money, come join the Facebook fan group and get yourself a little discount.  Click here.  The current code expires on 12/9 so no rush or anything, but GO NOW.

If you miss that coupon, you can get free shipping on a $50 order using code FREESHIP50.  I love free things.  I’ll buy a billion dollars worth of product just to get something for free.  Click here to order.

Well, I suppose it’s time to get myself off this couch and do something today.  A nap sounds good.  Then after that, Netflix.  Then nail polish.  And probably Starbucks.  In other words, var var busy.

Later, loves!

Night Owl Lacquer: Fall Collection 2016

Standard

Things I Learned While on Vacation #163:

It takes at least 33 seconds of flying in an open-air biplane before your hair gets whipped into a frenzied mess.  And another .25 seconds after that to have a full blown panic attack.

It’s my husband’s fault.  He wanted to take a tour of the city of Louisville by riding one of those historic biplanes – you know, the kind with wings on both top and bottom and no roof or beverage service.  I did have my hair in a ponytail, but not because I had any foresight of what was to come, but more because it had been 3 days since I’d washed it.

Whaaaat?  No one could tell.  Pretty sure, anyway.

Anyway, as soon as our plane lifted off the runway, the 80 mph winds got me big time.  I didn’t think about it at first, but as soon as we leveled out and I settled in for a relaxing flight, I reached up to play with my ponytail.  Or the big ball of rat’s nest that used to be my ponytail.

I couldn’t focus.  I could no longer see the sights I was meant to see.  It was really hot in the cockpit despite the fact if I moved my head one inch to the left, I’d have one of those skydiving faces where the mouth blows open and the cheeks ripple violently in the wind.  All I could do was spend the next half hour trying to simultaneously untangle my hair and hold on to the ponytail in fear of further damage.  How beautiful does Louisville look at 8000 feet?  I have no freaking idea.  But I got a $275 receipt anyway.

But let’s talk about polish because that at least doesn’t give me the hives.  I received a gorgeous set of fall polishes from Night Owl Lacquer to show you.  Look:

Well, those colors look amazing together.  If anyone crochets, I’ll take a blanket that looks just like this.  I’d do it myself, but I don’t need another pot holder.

I really need a longer attention span.

Here’s Autumn Winds:

Oooooh, dreamy!  This looks just like a campfire, if you ask me.  A smokey grey loaded with tons of copper shimmer.  The contrast is stunning.  One of the only reasons to love fall – colors like this.

Not that I don’t like fall.  But only early fall.  Once it hits 60-degrees, I’m done.  However, this polish helps.

Two pretty macros:

Well, I’m not sure we can top this one.  It’s basically the prettiest color that ever lived.

But then along comes Be Thankful:

Alright, I seriously can’t take this.  I looooooove oranges like this.  Warm and fiery, like sparkling leaves.  I know, I know.  Summer just can’t quite do this.  Summer does neon.  I don’t want to wrap myself up in a neon blanket.

Fiiiiiine.  Points for fall.

The base here is a reddish copper with copper flecks.  So I guess not technically an orange.  Either way, it’s absolutely stunning and one of the best reasons why you’re buying this collection.

Macro porn!

I’m getting woozy.  This polish has got me loopy.  I’m drinking a rum and Coke, but I’ve been sipping from the same glass for like three hours, so pretty sure that has nothing to do with it.

Next up is Harvest Moon:

Now it’s just getting stupid.  How can we have three gorgeous polishes in a row like that?  Is that even possible?  Quick, someone do the science.  Should we buy lottery tickets next?

Isn’t this pale gold so stunning?  It’s literally glowing.  It’s got loads of gold micro flakies in it, and I’m basically a melty pool of goo right now.

Macros next!

You love it, oh yes you do.

Here is Autumn Nights:

Welp, if I had a mic right now, I’d totally drop it.  Like literally drop it, and walk right out of the room.

I love dark polish.  I’ve mentioned this before, maybe in this same blog post, I dunno.  But I just love the look of dark colors on my nails.  Makes my fingers seem less pale, although I’m sure you just scrolled up to look and now you think I’m crazy.  Listen, this is a darker shade of pale for me; trust me, it’s better.

So this polish is a dark navy blue with copper flakies in it.  I applied two coats even though this one didn’t really need it.  It was basically a one coater, which I’m sure a lot of you will appreciate.  Not me, cuz I can polish for 17 hours straight and never blink an eye (unless someone puts a Starbucks in my face), but I’m sure all the rest of you are normal human beings.

You know what’s next:

You can see those copper flakies in that one.  So pretty.

Last polish in the collection is Sunshine on Falling Leaves:

Oh, green, how much I love thee.  What an awesome ending, right?  Despite all my oohs and aahs about all the other  colors, green will always be my baby.  It’s my comfort color.  I love all shades of green, but especially ones like this.

This one is a shimmery olive green packed full of gold holo micro glitters and gold holo shreds.  It’s perfection and the collection wouldn’t be complete without it.  It’s fall in a bottle, but just the warm part.  Like today, when it was 80-degrees.  That kind of fall.  The only fall that matters.  Because after the warm part, things turn brown.  And then naked.  And despite what you’ve heard, naked is not an attractive look for anyone.  Unless you’re Leonardo DiCaprio.  I assume, anyway.

More macros:

I die!

The round up:

Lindsay, the maker of Night Owl Lacquer, has truly outdone herself.  I loved the last collection she did, but this one just blows me away.  Every single one of them had a super rich color and requires either one to two coats, but more like one-and-a-half coats, although I don’t know if that’s a thing.  Regardless,  you’ve gotta get it!  It debuts later today at 10pm MST so click here to order.  You can thank me later.  I like gift cards.  And nail polish-shaped packages.  Thanks.

Later, loves!
