The Holo Hookup: September 2017 – Royal Women

Standard

Hubby’s left me for an overnight business trip, and I swear I don’t know how to be a proper human being.  Things accomplished so far?  A Cheetos and wine cooler dinner.  But the swatching and the blogging and the dire responsibilities?  Not so much.  And then the cat meowed for roughly an eternity before I realized I was in charge of food.  Seriously, I feel slightly out of sorts, almost like I’m lounging on someone else’s couch for the night.  OMG, I may never be normal again.  Cue the hives cream!  I’ll take a thousand tubes.

Good thing there’s nail polish!  It’s time once again for the Holo Hookup box, and I got a whoooole lotta holo to share with you today!  Let’s take a look at what’s coming your way for September.  Prepare to spend some money y’all!  And grab your drool buckets just in case.

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Anything ladylike still happening?  NOT TODAY!

So this month’s theme is Royal Women, and to be honest, I relate to this on roughly 727 levels. Cuz I wear pajamas and hubby brings me snacks on his way back from the kitchen, and if that doesn’t sound like someone’s a DADGUM PRINCESS, well clearly how wrong you must be feeling right now.

But also, I am a Trophy Wife EXTRAORDINAIRE!, which is basically royalty to, like, the trillionth degree, so any further questions are officially moot.

Here’s the inspiration photo:

Picture of me, notwithstanding. Cuz ALSO A QUEEN, that’s why.

In an attempt to write this blog in less than 18 years, I’ll try to control the chatty.  Cuz as always, a new Holo Hookup is cause for emergency, and if I don’t get to the point quick enough, the karate chops are coming.

So this month’s featured brand is Takko Lacquer, and I’m so so excited!  Takko is one of the first brands I tried where every new collection incited an elbow jabby, Black Friday-style frenzy.  It is with Takko where I learned the importance of setting 17 alarms, and where the sheer act of it was the only logical next step.  Seriously, you guys.  Takko is legit, and if you’re buying 27 bottles of it, well, no one is surprised.

Let’s get busy!  Takko goes first!

TAKKO LACQUER: RANI OF JHANSI

DESCRIPTION:  A pink base with light sprinkle of holo and shifty green to pink shimmer

OPACITY:  Two coats plus top coat

Under the mood lights, it gets a bit sexy:

And then a macro to show off that shimmer:

Now, actual nail art:

Effort on display!  I did a gradient using the Takko plus the Glisten & Glow (coming up next!) and added some stamping from the Powder Perfect Floral 1 plate.  Kinda cute, yes?  YES.

GLISTEN & GLOW:  QUEEN ELIZABETH I

DESCRIPTION:  A dark red toned berry holographic with added pops of copper shimmer

OPACITY:  Two coats plus top coat

Vampy shades like this get me all kinds of excited!  And anytime you throw a copper anything in there, well, let’s hope there’s an old fashioned Victorian fainting couch nearby.  Specifically.  Cuz I refuse to get unattractive on a futon.

Under the lamps, the holo gets insane:

And turn the lights down low, and that shimmer gets ya good:

Simple nail art:

How clever am I for doing crowns on a Royal Women-themed polish?  Like, I might’ve thought this one through or something.  Bonus points are coming, I’m quite certain.

Used the Uber Chic Beauty Fairytale 02 plate for this one, in case you’re curious.

CUPCAKE POLISH: CLEOPATRA

DESCRIPTION:  A turquoise holographic with gold shimmers

OPACITY:  Two coats plus top coat

It’s practically green, guys, so for that fact alone, I lub it lots.  And this bling?  RIDICULOUS.

Under low lighting, there’s a touch of blue peeking through:

And then I went and ruined it:

Bye bye mojo!  I picked the Powder Perfect Egypt 1 plate to use on top of my Cleopatra-themed polish, and then immediately my brain went away somewhere.  Ugh.

DIFFERENT DIMENSION: QUEEN NEFERTITI

DESCRIPTION:  A purple to blue multichrome holographic with added microglitters

OPACITY:  Two coats plus top coat

This one is freaking dreamy!  I mean, the holo is all well and good, but the shift is what brings on the noodle legs. Proof below!

See?!  We’re all a big puddle of goo at this point.

Temporary mojo reprieve:

I used the layered dragon scales image from the Uber Chic Beauty Fairytale 02 plate and I couldn’t be happier.  Even my lining up of the layers is getting a bit better.  Who is this person doing my nails right now, cuz certainly it cannot be me.  Toot toot!

More nail art using all four polishes together.  Some overachieve-y on display:

Did a smoosh mani and stamped over it using the Lina Let’s Doodle 01 plate.  Who’s in love?  (All of us, to be clear.)  Also, the level of effort?  Superhuman.

And now, a dotticure:

Always a good idea.

THE ROUND UP

Pre-order for this box starts on August 21 at 9pm EST and will run thru August 28 at 9pm EST. Which means, you have just ONE WEEK to get your life together before the polish goes away forever. Are you properly panicked? Well, you should be.

Cost is $40 and shipping will begin September 12th or so. Click here for shopping! (Well, not right now. The 21st. As in Monday. We’ve been over this already.)

And now, some linky loos:

Lastly, set some alarms and put Post-Its on all your surfaces.  Cuz who’s missing out on this incredible box?  CERTAINLY NOT YOU.

Later, loves!

Cupcake Polish + Top Shelf Lacquer + Crystal’s Charity Lacquers: Quad for the SPCA

Standard

After an evening full of couch lounging and spending an extraordinary amount of time watching my cat have a fight with a string tie from one of my shirts, suddenly it is after midnight and YET AGAIN now is the time to write a blog.  Seriously guys, I might never go to bed again.  Cuz FOR SOME REASON, the blog don’t write itself and there’s roughly 7,397 left to do.  Still.  I’m not very good at goals, let’s just say.

And naturally there’s a POLISH EMERGENCY! in our midst. So we’re gonna zip through the blog real quick before I tell you things after the things are no longer the things.  Clearly, I make perfect sense when my brain is half asleep.  But aside from all that, Crystal’s Charity Lacquers is back again and it’s time to hoard some polish! BOOM.

Each month or so, Crystal’s Charity Lacquers chooses a charity and teams up with indie brands to create exclusive polishes to sell and help raise funds for the cause. This round, she has chosen Sara from Cupcake Polish and Amy from Top Shelf Lacquer to release some pretties to benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, otherwise known as the SPCA.

So get off your no-buys, ladies! A TOTAL LEGIT JUSTIFICATION-type scenario just fell into your lap like no big deal. Lesssss go!

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

A charity for animals is one of the easiest causes to donate to.  Cuz we all love animals, cats and dogs and little baby pandas trapped in tiny bubble cocoons.  And it doesn’t matter how much hard work they are (in a poop scooping way, mostly) or the fact a piece of cat hair literally just flew into my wet manicure, I still want to kiss my fur baby straight in the mouth even though he probably licked his own butt approximately 2.5 seconds ago.  Not sure that’s an admirable quality or what this says about me as a person, but that is beside the point.

As previously mentioned, there are two indie brands helping out this round, and I was lucky enough to bring you swatches of both this time.  The whole shebang, y’all!  If you’re thinking overachieve-y best blogger ever, well, you’d be about 97.48676% correct.

Here’s a brief rundown of all the goodies, then I’ll meet you at the bottom.  And then prepare to spend some money, cuz there’s no way you’re getting out of this blog without 27,000 bottles in the cart.  Rational behavior?  NOT TODAY!

CUPCAKE POLISH DUO

Spoiler alert:  FLAKIES!  Wallets are officially flying out of purses, everywhere.

MAKE TODAY PAWSOME

DESCRIPTION:  An emerald green holographic with pink/copper/green/gold color shifting metallic flakies

OPACITY:  Two coats plus top coat

Also, did I mention this is green?  Gah!  The effort to stay upright at the moment is a dire situation indeed.

PAWS AND SHARE THE LOVE

DESCRIPTION:  A mulberry purple holographic with copper/red/gold color shifting metallic flakies

OPACITY:  Again with the two coats

I’m loving how the flakies look like little glowy sparks of fire.  It’s comfy and cozy and happiness times a billion.  Did someone just walk in here and hand me a basket full of kitties?  Might as well have.

So if all that wasn’t enough to get you tossing polish in the cart all willy nilly, we’ll just go ahead and make your best day ever even best-i-er.  Cuz look what else you’re buying:

TOP SHELF LACQUER DUO

Dammmmmit.  I was trying to be a lady all day long, and now everything is ruined.  Cuz it’s hard to look classy while running for your drool bucket.

BLOODHOUND MARY

DESCRIPTION:  A deep red polish filled with glowing glass fleck and a subtle pink to orange shift

OPACITY:  Two smooth and yummy coats

This polish is ridiculously pretty.  More proof below:

THE BULLDOG SMASH

DESCRIPTION:  A medium grey with blue shimmer and red/orange/pink/yellow color shifting flakies

OPACITY:  Two amazing coats

Y’all know I have issues with Fall, simply because of its unfortunate proximity to the hell that is Winter.  But it’s polishes like this, ones that look like wet leaves on pavement or smoldering ashes in a bonfire, that makes me think that Fall is the best season there is.  Just for half a second, though, but still.

And now, we SWOON.  You guys.  Get on this like stat.

THE ROUND UP

Pre-sale for these charity polishes has already started, cuz I am a DADGUM PROFESSIONAL, in case you are curious.  Regardless, there is time still left, so if bonus points are coming, well that sounds about right.  Last day to purchase is August 27 so make sure you go NOW, or at the very least, 5 seconds from now.

Cost for the Cupcake Polish colors is $13 and Top Shelf Lacquer’s is $12.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the SPCA, which makes this hoarding problem well and truly worth it.  Polishes are available now in each respective maker’s site, so here are the linkies all typed and ready to go:

Cupcake Polish

Top Shelf Lacquer

Then while you’re in a clicking mood, go ahead and join the Crystal’s Charity Lacquers Facebook group so you can get inside scoop on future donations, brand collaborations, and polish sneak peeks. DO IT. I mean it. Click here.

And now we’re done!  I’m headed to bed and you’re headed for your checkbook.  Cuz that’s how this thing works. Weeeee!

Later, loves!

Cruisin’ Into Polish Con: Glisten & Glow, Cupcake Polish, Different Dimension

Standard

If there was ever a time to get your life together, now would be it.  Cuz another POLISH EMERGENCY! is headed our way and we need to get prepared.  I mean, imagine a surprise Leonardo sighting is happening and you don’t have your wedding dress in the car. Do you see? DO YOU SEE?!?!  So you miss out on this nail polish, and that’s practically the same thing.

Well, almost. Cuz LEONARDO, that’s why.  You’ve read this blog before.  (Right?  RIGHT.)

But back to the emergency, i.e., point of this dadgum blog. The next Polish Convention event will be taking place in Chicago on September 23, and every week leading up to the big day, new exclusive Road to Polish Con polishes are being released.  Week 5 starts tomorrow, guys, and now you need to FOCUS.  A legit, no joke BEST DAY EVER just landed in your lap like no big deal.

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Gah!  Excuse me while I toss my ladylike composure out the window real quick.

This is the Cruisin’ Into Polish Con trio from three of our most favorite brands:  Glisten & Glow, Cupcake Polish, and Different Dimension.  It’s like a bonus Holo Hookup box, guys!  Who just peed a little?  I know, ME TOO!

Celebrating the 100th year of Chicago’s Navy Pier, these polishes are inspired by three dinner and sightseeing boats plus fireworks, dancing, music, culture, food, cocktails and beautiful sunsets.  Basically, all your holographic polish dreams come true, So get off your no-buys ladies; this is COMPLETE JUSTIFICATION to the trillionth degree.

GLISTEN & GLOW:  SPIRIT OF CHICAGO

DESCRIPTION:  An indigo purple holographic with violet and blue shimmers and silver microflakies

OPACITY:  Two coats

And all you purple lovers just died a little bit.  For real, you did.

Under the mood lights:

And a macro for funsies:

Some kinda fun nail art:

Although, don’t ask why I felt orange stamping was the way to go with this one.  Sometimes when I nail art, my brain just goes away somewhere.  However, AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE, and that’s worth half a horn toot at least.

Used the Lina Make Your Mark 05 plate if you’re curious.

CUPCAKE POLISH:  MYSTIC BLUE

DESCRIPTION:  An azure blue super linear holographic with heavy green to blue shifting shimmers

OPACITY:  Two coats

More mood lighting to show off the color.  For extra drool-y-ness, clearly:

Now a close up of those goodies.  A bonafide ocean of lovely:

Some simple stamping:

This one looked way better in my head.  There was this cool cutout image on the Powder Perfect 1980s 1 plate, and I instantly thought of a color block design.  But the curves in my nails made the stamping turn out a bit wonky, and I don’t know about you, but I could use 18,000 tubes of hives cream right about now.  Oh, OCD, my evil friend.

DIFFERENT DIMENSION:  ODYSSEY II

DESCRIPTION:  A bright magenta pink holographic with hints of copper shimmer

OPACITY:  Two coats

Seriously, if y’all could just wheel me over one of those old fashioned fainting couches, that’d be great.

Do you hear angels?  I hear angels.

Not hideous, but …

… no award, either.  If anyone has some leftover mojo, I could use a billion of it.

Stamped with the Lina Make Your Mark 05 plate again in case recreations are in order.  (They’re not.  Moving on!)

Then suddenly, a last minute mojo reprieve:

A good old fashioned dotticure!  I used all three polishes for this, and I really love how it turned out.  I made those dots by hand y’all, cuz a burst of energy just came out of nowhere.

So then I did this real quick:

Well, not real quick.  More like 18 years, but still. Gradients don’t just happen like magic, surprisingly.  Although, if this gets me a lifetime supply of bonus points, that sounds about right.  Cuz OVERACHIEVE-Y doesn’t even begin to describe this scenario.

Used the Lina Make Your Mark 05 plate one last time, and then kudos and accolades are coming next, I’m sure of it.

THE ROUND UP

The Cruisin’ Into Polish Con trio will be available starting tomorrow, July 30 at 8am EST and will run until Saturday, August 5 at 8pm EST.  In case you don’t math well, that’s seven short days to get your priorities in order.  Holo up top, people!  Then dishes and groceries, if there’s time.

Sold individually, each bottle will retail for $10.  Only available on the Polish Convention website, so click here for shopping!  Then keep a lookout every Sunday for new polishes to hoard.  Cuz no one does CRAZY NAIL LADY quite like you.

Come back tomorrow for more blog.  This train keeps moving!

Later, loves!

The Holo Hookup: August 2017 – Enchanted Forest

Standard

Pressure’s on, guys.  I’ve been staring at an empty screen for the past 17 years, and now a deadline is officially lurking.  I swear, if the distractions don’t stop, stupid things are gonna come out just so I can post a blog on time.  I’ve shut myself in this bedroom so I can concentrate, but hubby just burst in dragging a string behind him with a cat attached to the end of it.  And then he tossed me a bag of potato chips and so I lost consciousness there for a second.  Now after a rousing bout of cardio trying to get a fly out of the room, I realize I’ve been writing this same paragraph for the last four hours, and OMG I need the hives cream, stat.  Blogging is hard, you guys.  SO. HARD.

Okay, now FOCUS.  Pretty things are coming.  My second round of reviewing for the Holo Hookup box is here, and I’m feeling quite overachieve-y at the moment.  They’ve kept me on, guys; I wooed ’em good!  Apparently this blog full of nonsense is appreciated by at least one person, and trust me, that is EVERYTHING.  Cuz I don’t give carpal tunnel to myself for funsies, I’m at least 23% sure of it.

Anyway, let me show you what’s coming up for August. An insane amount of holo headed your way in 3 … 2 … 1 …

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Still upright?  Just checking.

So this month’s theme is Enchanted Forest, and just by the name alone, y’all know you want approximately 18,000 boxes.  Cuz there’s magical things in an Enchanted Forest:  fairies and unicorns and Prince Charmings mid-rescue.  Old wizards with long beards, probably full of glitter and cute baby field mice wearing little britches. Possibly also some Dorito crumbs.  And a couple of talking trees with branches that will push people off their horses, you know, to keep things interesting.

Here’s the inspiration photo:

Yep, magical, at minimum.

Trying to not get too chatty in here, as I need to get this posted sometime before 2037.  A polish emergency is among us and for some reason, the blog don’t write itself.  So let’s get into the goodies, yes?  YES.

This month’s featured brand is the amazing Lindsey with Tonic Polish, which means the Holo Hookup is about to break some kinda sales record, I’m quite certain.  If y’all know even a smidge of the magic that is Tonic Polish, it’s about to get all sorts of elbow jabby in here real quick.  A bonafide frenzy, is what I mean.

But since we need to maintain a semblance of a classy lady, guests shall go first.  Cuz in about 2.5 seconds, ladylike composure is going out the window anyway.  Here is what Lindsey made for us.  Presenting, Dryad’s Grove:

DESCRIPTION:  A mysterious forest green holographic with an inner maroon to gold shifting shimmer and tiny ultra holo microglitter sparks

COATS:  Three just to deepen color, but two was just fine

Well, lordt.  Green just happened, and already the jaws are dropping.  I mean, just look at it.  LOOK. AT. IT.  Seriously, if you came here for some peace and quiet and a rational behavior EXTRAVAGANZA!, ohhhhh how WRONG you must be feeling right now.

Under the lamps:

Now macros:

Holo holo everywhere, and in the cart she goes!  Weeeee!

Some nail art I did:

Pretty basic stamping using the Uber Chic Beauty Vacation Mode plate.  I don’t hate it, but the kudos and accolades are taking their damn sweet time.  People, it gets worse.  We’ve been here before.

Next up is the offering from Glisten & Glow – here’s Fairy’s Frost:

DESCRIPTION:  A silver linear holographic with golden green shimmer, like twinkling lights reflecting off fairy wings

COATS:  Two, smooth and blingy

GAH!  What are words?  What is breathing?  Excuse me while I attempt to get control of my brain.

Under the lamps:

It’s holo-y to the trillionth degree.  Cue the drool buckets!

An accidental painting of all the surfaces is next, and no one is surprised.

Not hideous nail art:

Some more easy stamping using the What’s Up Nails B018 plate.  I do love the contrast between the black and the bling, though, so I’ll take half a horn toot, you know, if y’all not busy.

Now here’s Field of Flowers from Cupcake Polish:

DESCRIPTION:  A lavender super holographic with blue shimmer

COATS:  Three, but two was fine; just deeping the color, don’t mind me!

And just like that, I am an 8-year-old child in a room full of office supplies.  Cuz DREAM SCENARIO, is what I mean.  If Leonardo walked in handing me a Starbucks, well, that sounds about right.

Under the lamps:

More macros to aid the convincing:

FIIIIINE.  We’ll take a billion bottles.  Cuz now is not the time to act normal.

Finally, a skosh of mojo:

Very simple stamping using the Uber Chic Beauty 16-03 plate, but I love this image so much.  Quick and effortless, but so much pretty.  And, well, you had me at effortless.

Lastly, here’s Enchant-Mint from Different Dimension:

DESCRIPTION:  A misty light mint holographic with added shimmers and holographic microglitters

COATS:  Again with three, but two was fine

Well, let’s end this thing on an exclamation point, then.  How glorious is this one?  (Very.)  It’s on the blue side of mint, super delicate, elegant and Queen of England-approved.  Who’s about to hold a bunch of tiny little teacups?  (You, to be clear.  Cuz sometimes fancy lady happens whether you like it or not.)

More shots in case you’re on the fence:

Cuz the fence is no place for a lady.

And right on cue, it’s bye bye mojo:

Meh.  It’s not the worst, but the stamping was much more subtle than I expected.  Used the new Lina Let’s Doodle 01 plate, though, which has lots of cool images on it.  Sadly, though, I do nail art with my eyes closed.  Bah.

And now, some bonus points.  Nail art using all four polishes!

A striping tape EXTRAVAGANZA! And I stinkin’ love it.  Figures.  It took all of 30 seconds and barely any brain.

And then a random burst of energy just came out of nowhere:

I dry brushed, guys!  And made a THING.  Like, actual kudos and accolades might come this time.  FINALLY.  Toot toot!

The round up:

Pre-order for this box starts on July 21 at 9pm EST and will run thru July 28 at 9pm EST.  Which means, you have just ONE WEEK to get your life together before the polish goes away forever.  Are you properly panicked?  Well, you should be.

Cost is $40 and shipping will begin August 12th or so.  Click here for shopping! (Well, not right now.  The 21st.  As in Friday.  We’ve been over this already.)

And now, some linky loos:

And now we are done!  The game plan is set.  And 17 alarms, at minimum.  Cuz no one does Crazy Nail Lady quite like you.

Cupcake Polish: Mod About You Collection

Standard

Who else was forced to spend the weekend playing grocery store and eating fake food off a plastic plate with a 4 year old? Damn near nobody but me, I’m quite certain.  This is what happens when everyone in your family knows where to find you: at home, lounging on couches at least 97.7459% of the time.  So when asked, What are you doing this Friday night?, coming up with an excuse of anything else based outside my living room is both nigh on impossible and a bold-faced lie.  Looks like a slumber party with the grandchildren then.  I’m weeeeee!-ing on the inside, I swear it.

Although, things went pretty smooth for the most part.  I mean, I somehow managed to play Shopkins for hours without getting down in the floor for any of it, which is literally a miracle to the trillionth degree. Cuz I don’t know about you, but getting back up off the floor is some whole other layer of effort I’m not ready to commit to. Once I’m down, I’M DOWN FOR LIFE.

The not so smooth part?  When the oldest granddaughter had an expert level, Oscar-worthy meltdown cuz Gigi ate all the Doritos.  I felt kinda bad about it, but they were Cool Ranch flavor so technically I had no choice. One day she’ll understand.

So here I am, starting a blog after midnight cuz my brain hasn’t quite gone back to normal yet.  BEST IDEA EVER.  Most likely it won’t get published tonight as Full House is on TV, and we all know what kind of black hole vacuum that show is.  But an attempt has been made, just so you know.

Another new collection from Cupcake Polish is on the blog today!  Sara sent me her new Mod About You collection, a glorious set of 6 vibrant holographics inspired by the mod 1960s.  Who’s ready to look at pretty things?  EVERY DADGUM ONE OF US, that’s who.  So lessss go!

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

I’ll be honest:  I thought there’d be more mustard yellow Tupperware colors in here, so clearly my view of the 1960s is rather skewed.  Mustard yellow probably came out in the 70s anyway, and the point I am making is basically moot.  Although it’s the avocado green stuff we really care about anyway, cuz where there is green there is me with my grabby fingers sticking out.

OMG, what are we even talking about right now?  Gah!  Shut up, brain.

Let’s do noodle legs instead.  Cuz a parade of much classier shades is on the way!  Formula and application on these is consistent across the board, so here’s a quick rundown of the colors.  Meet you at the bottom!

First up is Mod Squad, a royal purple linear holographic:

Do you hear angels?  Cuz I hear angels.  And horn toots and confetti poppers too, prolly.

Then I put on pants:

Or “went outside” as others like to call it.

Next up is Gettin’ Twiggy With It, a gunmetal linear holographic:

You thought it was just gonna be a grey didn’t you? Tsk tsk. It’s grey with jazz hands, clearly.

Again with the pants:

That’s two efforts in a row, in case you don’t math well.

Now here’s Suitor on a Scooter, a medium blue linear holographic:

Or maybe it’s turquoise.  I dunno.  Blue, turquoise, potato, french fry; either way, it’s all good.

A shot under the lamps instead cuz this pants thing is getting ridiculous:

Still drool-y though!

Here’s Look at You Go-Go, a dove grey linear holographic:

So here’s your grey with, like, just some sweatpants on.  But ones from Victoria’s Secret though, so we can maintain at least an “air” of sexy in case actual sexy is too much effort for a Monday.

At this point, we’re not even sure whose blog this is, aka someone went outside again:

PROFESSIONAL BLOGGER EXTRAORDINAIRE is what you’re thinking.

Next up is Crazy Mod Love, a berry pink linear holographic:

Don’t mind me! I’ll just be over here reattaching my jaw to my face for the next 37 years.  K, bye.

Outside, and the pants are officially worth it:

You done died.  You did.

Lastly, here’s Fringe Benefits, a royal blue linear holographic:

And then all the wallets fell right out of our purses, just 👏🏼 like 👏🏼 that 👏🏼 BOOM.

One more for under the lamps:

Simply put, an ocean of lovely.

The round up:

As mentioned before, formula and application on each polish is the same. I did two coats for my swatches, but one coat had really good coverage in case you don’t have time to sit for 17 hours painting nails like me.

This collection is available now, so get on it boo boos!  Price is $13 each and the PERFECT way to spend some money today.  Cuz who sees this much holo then continues about all normal and whatnot?  CERTAINLY NOT YOU.  Cuz now is not the time for rational behavior, that’s why.  Click here for shopping!

Later, loves!

The Holo Hookup: July 2017 – Beaches of the World

Standard

One of the coolest things has happened to me, and it surprisingly doesn’t involve Leonardo or a wedding dress.  GUYS.  I’ve been asked to blog for the Holo Hookup box!  Excuse me while I pee my pants a little.  Cuz I don’t know about you, but they’ve got an awesome batch of bloggers, and to be amongst them makes me feel like I should be allowed to quit my job and wear pajamas forever AT ANY MOMENT NOW.  Except hubby says NO cuz hubby is zero fun.

We shall stay married, however, cuz he brings me sandwiches.

Since the Holo Hookup is a new thing to my blog, let me give you a tiny rundown.  It is the brain child of Jill from Glisten & Glow, Sara from Cupcake Polish and Missi from Different Dimension.  Every month, they team up with a fourth rotating featured brand and create exclusive holographic polishes based on that particular month’s theme.  And then the rest of us swoon and drool and be basically unattractive as we elbow our way to the front of the line.  Cuz they’re only on sale for 7 days, and y’all know a POLISH EMERGENCY ain’t the time to be leisurely.

Anyway,  let me show you what’s coming up for July.  Brace yourselves for an insane amount of holo.  Ready?  Well then lessss go!

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Yep.  You’re about to spend some money, I can already tell.

So this month’s theme is Beaches of the World.  Before you even open the box, you know you’re gonna love each and every one of these.  Cuz who doesn’t want all things beachy?  I mean, I cried while snorkeling and wore a sweat bead mustache for 7 days straight, and still somehow managed to have a good time.  The frizzy triangle-shaped hair was pushing it though, just to be clear. Ahhhhh, Humidity, my evil friend.

Here’s the inspiration photo:

Now let’s get into some polish.  I’m getting quite chatty, and if I don’t wrap this up soon, stupid things are gonna come out.  As they do about 97.75867% of the time.

This month’s featured brand is the lovely Sarah and Adrienne with Fair Maiden Polish.  I had the pleasure of swatching a collection for them back in April, and lemme just say:  I LUB THEM LOTS.

And because we are all some kind of classy ladies, guests shall go first.  Here is what Sarah and Adrienne made for us.  Presenting, Waikiki Beach:

This one is a sandy linear holographic with pink to gold shifting shimmer and hints of scattered holo sparkle throughout.  It’s a pretty dainty shade but with just enough punch to make my sad white sausages look slightly more hand model-y.  And for that reason alone, IN THE CART SHE GOES!

Under the lamps, jaws are dropping everywhere:

Close up of that shimmer:

Mercy!

And then I made this nail art:

Look!  Effort!  Kinda cute right?  Worth half a horn toot, maybe?

Used the Uber Chic Beauty 18-01 plate on this one, a crap ton of gold beads, and a skosh of mojo.

Next up is the offering from Glisten & Glow – here’s Trunk Bay:

This one is an ocean blue linear holographic with mermaid tail shimmers and a twinkle of silver holo microglitters.  Well, who wants this one all over the surfaces?  EVERY DADGUM ONE OF US, that’s who.  There’s just something about a blue, isn’t there?  So calming and serene.  If a nap is coming next, no one’s surprised.

Under the lamps:

Angels are signing, I’m quite certain.

Macros, and an attempt at ladylike composure:

Just kidding.  I’m a drool-y mess.

Not hideous nail art:

You might’ve expected something more mermaid-y, so naturally I did raindrops.  Best blogger ever, is what you’re thinking.

Used the Uber Chic Beauty 9-01 plate in case you’re curious.  (You might be this time!)

Now here’s Pink Beach from Different Dimension:

This one is a blush pink linear holographic with twinkling pink shimmers and silver holographic microglitters.  It gives off a slight lavender-y tone on me, and it’s so soft and precious and perfect for holding tiny cappuccinos.  Cuz she a fancy lady, that’s why.

Under the lamps, we all get just a little bit more pass-out-y:

And then a prelude to the Noodle Leg Epidemic happening next:

How are we still upright?  The sheer amount of perseverence on display over here is downright superhuman.  Still not putting pants on though.

Some simple stamping:

Meh.  No awards are coming, but it’s not the worst I’ve ever done.  I mean, you’ve read this blog before.  Nail fails, THEY. ARE. EVERYWHERE.

Used the Uber Chic Beauty 9-02 plate on this one in case recreations are in order.  (They’re not.  Moving on.)

Lastly, here’s Horseshoe Bay Beach from Cupcake Polish:

This one is a creme based peach linear holographic with pink to blue shifting shimmers.  At first I thought this was a pink polish, but after I applied it, the peach is very evident.  It’s such an awesome summery shade.  And it’s pretty much a one coater, although I added a second out of habit.  Then I went and lounged on couches, cuz TWO COATS for no damn good reason?  That’s effort to the trillionth degree.

Under the lamps:

And then macros to aid the convincing:

But then again, you already know.  One box plus 27 backup boxes, AT MINIMUM.

Scroll past this one:

You stopped scrolling!  Ugh.  Is it me or is that blinding white pinky nail just staring you in the face asking WHAT THE HELL, Expert?  Like, was I doing nail art and then somewhere in the middle my brain just up and went somewhere?   Bye bye mojo.  You had one foot out the door anyway.

Used the Uber Chic Beauty 9-01 plate, but at this point … NEXT!

Bonus points down below!  Someone’s feeling overachieve-y:

Used all four colors from the box and smooshed ’em all over my nails cuz a big burst of energy just happens sometimes.  Don’t worry, though, we’re all back to normal now, picking things up with our feet cuz bending over properly is a commitment I’m not yet ready to make.

A patchwork, color block-y, chevron-y kinda thing:

Again, used all 4 colors.  Seriously, is a Starbucks coming?  I think yes.

The round up:

Pre-order for this box starts on June 21 at 9pm EST and will run thru June 28 at 9pm EST.  And in case you don’t math well, that’s 7 days of panic heading your way.  So 17 alarms and Post-It Notes in all the places?  COMPLETELY NORMAL BEHAVIOR.

Cost is $40 and shipping will begin by July 12.  Click here for shopping!  (On Wednesday.  First in line.  Cuz no one does Crazy Nail Lady quite like you.)

Cupcake Polish: Special Effects Toppers + Delishious Nails Collaboration Polish

Standard

Wasn’t I just in here blogging?  I swear I was.

GUYS.  It’s still Polish Con week and I’m desperately trying to be a proper nail blogger and do things on time and whatnot.  And because this time crunch is legit no joke, I can’t even ramble on like I tend to do.  How sad are you right now?  (Very.)

Hope you’ll enjoy the blog despite all that.  I mean, there’s still polish and that’s the whole reason I’m in here talking to myself on a daily basis anyway.  After the chaos of this week,  I’ll be back to making not a lick of sense like normal.  But admit it:  you’re gonna miss me.

Let’s dive in!  First time on the blog y’all and I feel like a fancy lady!  Sara with Cupcake Polish sent me a bunch of goodies to review for you today.  A whoooooole lot of pretty is 2.5 seconds away.

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

This is their Special Effect Toppers collection, a set of six toppers designed to be layered over other polishes to completely transform your mani.  There’s so many fun things you can do with these, so naturally I went basic and applied over black.  I’m not good at nails, let’s just say.  Cuz last time I tried to make something cool, I ended up with a meth owl and scared all the babies.  Oopsie.

First up is Lemon Icing:

This one is a yellow tinted holographic topper.  Only one coat over black.  Things are starting out well.

Under the lamps, it gets insane:

Someone bring me the smelling salts.  It’s getting super pass-out-y in here.

Some nail art I did:

Meh.  It’s okay.  I was trying to be clever by doing yellow stamping on the yellow one.  And while I’ve certainly done worse (you’ve read this blog before, right?), no one is handing me an award or anything.

Used the new Lina Feeling Shapely 09 plate, which is full of mix n match geometric designs.  All good for a person who has an eye for such things.  But throw a bit of OCD in there, and too much mix n matchy means a whole tube of hives cream, at the minimum.  In other words, an incident is coming on, I just know it.

Next up is Sprinkles:

This is a scattered silver holographic glitter topper.  Look how much bling you get with one layer!  Party nails just like that.  Or napping nails, if you’re me.

Don’t look at this one:

I don’t even know what happened.  I used the Uber Chic Beauty Texture-licious 2 plate and accidentally made carpet from a roller rink in 1985.  Blah.

Now here’s Strawberry Icing:

This one is a pink tinted holographic topper, once again layered over black.  I also did two coats on my naked thumb and it covered really well and made a lovely pastel pink holographic.

Then I didn’t take a picture for you cuz BEST BLOGGER EVER.

Under the lamps:

Do you hear angels? I hear angels.

Mojo = DEAD:

Here it is: the INCIDENT.  This is what happens when you don’t think things through first.  Someone needs to come take my stamping plates away.

Just kidding!  I will cut you.

Used the Lina Feeling Shapely 09 plate again in case you’re curious.  (You’re not.)  Moving on!

Next up is Icing:

This one is a silver holographic topper, a nice dense version for good coverage. One layer. Over black. You know the drill by now.

Under the lamps:

Dreamy! You’re buying one bottle of this one plus 27 back-up bottles cuz you do CRAZY NAIL LADY like a dadgum champion.

Not-hideous nail art, for once:

I mean, it’ll do. I’ll take this brief moment of mojo and revel in it.

Used the new Lina Mad for Mandalas in case recreations are in order.  And kudos and accolades, you know, if y’all not busy.

Here’s Bubblegum Icing:

This one is a cyan blue tinted holographic topper. It’s soooo pretty! I’d lick it if it wasn’t so poison-y.

Under the lamps:

An ocean of lovely. I see a billion mermaid manis just waiting to happen.

So, of course I did chevrons:

Okay, not gonna lie. This one’s pretty awesome.  Quick! Someone get me my horn so I can toot it.

Used the Lina Feeling Shapely 09 plate for the shapes and the Make Your Mark 04 plate for the splatter background. Added matte top coat, dropped the mic and straight up left the room.

Lastly, this is Frosting:

This one is an iridescent opal glitter topper, and seriously guys. If you haven’t drooled in a thousand buckets by this point, you’re about to get suuuuuuper unattractive right about now. Ugly Ecstasy Face is a dire thing.

Nail art, no jazz hands:

Well, that didn’t last long now did it?  Bye bye mojo.

Used the Uber Chic Beauty Op Art Magic plate and made a most unfortunate decision. Plate is great until I get my grabby hands on it. I’m like that person who continually does things they shouldn’t. Like putting food in my mouth without looking at it first, then spending the next 197 hours waiting for death.

Someone needs to come save me from me.

The round up:

These all release early at Polish Con in New York City this Saturday, April 29, but for all us sad souls who live in the middle of nowhere exciting, we can snag these beauties online on May 6 at 2pm CST.

Toppers are $9 each and can be purchased at http://www.cupcakepolish.com – or by clicking here, cuz who’s game for some unnecessary typing?  NOT ME.

The other new release is a collaboration shade with blogger Alicia with Delishious Nails called Delishiously Jaded. May is Alicia’s birthday month and emerald green is her birthstone, and I swear I’ve never been so happy.  Take a look at this ridiculousness:

Gah!

This one is a green linear holographic with scattered holo microglitters and a green to blue shifting shimmer.  Opaque in two of the most delicious coats of your life. That is not a typo.

Under the lamps:

Sara, what are you doing to me?  Cuz I do not look good with my tongue lolling about outside my body. It causes divorce if I’m not mistaken.

I swear, what is wrong with me:

Used the Lina Feeling Shapely 09 plate one last time, and naturally I’m just sticking things on all willy nilly. Cuz my brain done went somewhere, that’s why.

I mean, I guess I don’t hate it, but WHAT IS IT?! is the actual question.

This polish also releases early at Polish Con on 4/29 but will return online for a limited time on May 6 at 2pm thru May 31 at 11:59pm CST.  Which means POLISH EMERGENCY! so make sure you arrange your life accordingly.

Price is $13 and available in the same place by clicking here.

That’s it, gang!  We survived another blogging day.  Only a slight carpal tunnel-type situation over here, no big deal.  Getting in pajamas now cuz staying sexy is var var hard work.

OMG, what?!  Shut up, brain.

Later, loves!
