Polish Pickup February 2018: Sugar Rush

• A PRESS SAMPLE FANDANGO •

Time for everyone’s favorite Polish Emergency cuz the February Polish Pickup is coming y’all!  I’m doing things a little different this month as I haven’t had much free time for swatching and blogging like normal (or even lounging about on couches, which is quite possibly the lamest thing ever written).  Work has been very needy lately, what with all the people wanting their tax forms prepared in a timely manner (i.e., most ideal scenario) as opposed to the feet up, desk napping, procrasinating thing I’d rather do.   Ugh.  Fiiiine.  But I swear, if bonus points aren’t headed my way after this .. welllll .. where is Leonardo DiCaprio when you need him?  (SERIOUSLY, WHERE IS HE?)

But back to the point of this blog.  (There IS a point, for real this time.)  I wasn’t able to write nine separate posts for each polish I received, so I’m consolidating them all into one big one and hopefully it doesn’t take like 18 years to write the dang thing.  Time is tickin’, guys, and the Polish Pickup waits for NO ONE.

The theme for February is Sugar Rush – all things sweet and delicious.  And you’re gonna want every last bit of it, I can already tell.  Lesssss go!

SCOFFLAW VARNISH: SPACE BROWNIE

DESCRIPTION:  A dark brown jelly with rich cocoa shimmer, lavender shimmer highlights and sparkles, purple/blue flecks and finished with golden flakies

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Finch was inspired by a pan of chocolate brownies.  CHOCOLATE BROWNIES.  Basically, that’s all you need to know.

All of that.  IMMEDIATELY.  Plus a cart full of nail polish, you know, for SAFETY.

Close up of those flakies cuz when it comes drool-y, we drool HARDCORE.  Who’s a classy lady then?  No one in here that’s for dang sure.

FAIR MAIDEN POLISH: COSMIC CONFECTION

DESCRIPTION:  A blue base with a dark purple to teal shifting chromatic flame and finished with scattered holo pigment

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Adrienne and Sarah were inspired by the most ridiculous cupcake of your life:

Seriously, is that not the most majestic thing on earth?  Like, there’s the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and then this dadgum cupcake.  Oh, and now this nail polish.  Are you sweaty?  Cuz I’m sweaty.

COLORS BY LLAROWE: GUMBALLS

DESCRIPTION:  A bright royal blue with glowing holographic finish and lighter blue flame

OPACITY:  One coat plus glossy top coat

Leah Ann was inspired by this colorful display of gumballs in pop bottles, particularly the blue ones as there’s always just something about the blue ones, ya know?  When I was a kid, my brother and I fought over who got to drink out of the blue Tupperware cup, which has about ZERO percent to do with this inspiration photo, but naturally my first inclination is to be var var useless at blogging.

OMG, what?  Shut up, Brain.

But back to that one coat thing.  This polish is every lazy girl’s DREAM.  Like, one effortless swipe and then lounging for all eternity.  Weeee!

LOLLIPOP POSSE LACQUER: CALL MY BABY LOLLIPOP

DESCRIPTION:  A mix of multiple colors of ultra chrome chameleon flakies, linear holographic pigment and multiple sizes of color shifting chameleon hex glitter finished with a purple-based shimmer that can also shift blue

OPACITY:  Three coats plus glossy top coat

My swatch is over naked nails but you can also use this polish as a topper if that’s more your jam.  You could also sponge the polish on to create a more opaque look on the nail.  Literally this polish does everything.  I have zero photos to prove it, but I swear it’s true.  Clearly, the level of PROFESSIONAL is currently at an all-time high.

Karen was inspired by two things: a broken, heart-shaped lollipop and the words of a song.  All good things below:

Call my baby lollipop / Tell you why / His kiss is sweeter than an apple pie / And when he does his shaky rockin’ dance / Man, I haven’t got a chance

— The Chordettes, Lollipop

BLUSH LACQUERS: POCKETFUL OF CHERRIES

DESCRIPTION:  A dark burgundy/maroon base with green/pink shifting shimmer and scattered holo pigment

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Victoria was inspired by this amazing looking dark cherry granita.  Another instance where I don’t need to see the polish in order to know I want a shopping cart full of it.  Take a look at this yummy deliciousness:

See?  TOLD YA.

And talk about a perfect polish twin! NAILED IT doesn’t even begin to describe this scenario.  Victoria’s a bit of an expert in case you didn’t know.

ANCHOR & HEART LACQUER: SWEET LITTLE COOKIE

DESCRIPTION:  A bubblegum pink crelly with scattered holo pigment, strong green shimmer, lime iridescent micro shreds and iridescent crystal flakies

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Taryn was inspired by her favorite French macarons.  Look at these adorable, precious things:

Such little cutie pies!  I can relate to this inspiration so much as hubby and I both have a thing for macarons.  When we travel, one of our favorite things to do is stand at a patisserie counter and take about 37 years deciding which six flavors of macarons to buy.  Seriously, people love us, they really, truly do.

Anyway, this polish is a gloriously dainty pink and perfect for holding tiny tea cups with your pinky up.  Oooooh, who feels like a fancy lady now?  Every last one of us pretttty sure.

KBSHIMMER: ROCK THIS WAY

DESCRIPTION:  A vibrant cobalt blue with holo glow flakies and blue shimmer

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

This is Christy’s first time participating in the Polish Pickup and she really knocked it out the park right from the start.  Although we knew she would, cuz CHRISTY.  Duh.

Her inspiration was berry-flavored rock candy and the blue mouths of children who love it:

Formula on this is so super glide-y and a pure, nerdy pleasure to apply.  KBShimmer never disappoints.  NEVER EVER.

And now, a close up of those glowing flakies.  Mercy!  I wanna swim in a bathtub full of these.  COMPLETELY NORMAL BEHAVIOR, in case you didn’t know.

LEMMING LACQUER: DELICIOUS SURPRISE

DESCRIPTION:  A squishy red jelly with pink/gold/green metallic flakies and red/gold/green color shifting flakies

OPACITY:  Three thin coats plus glossy top coat

Cassie was inspired by this beautiful Le Frasier dessert she had purchased from a patisserie near Portland, Oregon.  Seriously, I’ll never get skinny while this thing is around.

I’m headed to Portland for vacation in the fall, and let’s just say .. LE FRASIER!  I’m coming for you.  In the meantime, though, we’ll take a trillion bottles of this nail polish.  Give or take one, maybe two.  NOT A TYPO.

PRETTY JELLY: SWEET TRIP TO HONEYDUKES

DESCRIPTION:  A deep mint green holographic with peach shimmer and hot pink sparkle

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Liz was inspired by the adorable Honeydukes candy shop from the Harry Potter movies.  This color palette is all that is right with the world:

SO. STINKIN. DREAMY.

You could really go many ways with this one.  The polish could be mostly a pinky-peach, a strawberry red or even a fun yellow with pastel shimmer.  But Liz chose the green route, i.e., THE PROPER ROUTE, and made us a spectacular mint to end all mints.  It really was the most logical choice.  Cuz where there is green there is me trying desperately to hold my own mouth shut lest drool falls out in a most unattractive kind of way.

Okay gang!  That’s it.  Hope you enjoyed this all-in-one blog post.  I haven’t decided if I’ll keep doing it this way for each PPU or if I’ll go back to individuals next month.  Either way though, it’ll still be a good read.  Aside from all the uselessness, there’s nail polish and NO ONE ever walks away from nail polish.  Welll, only the crazy ones.

Later, loves!
