Anchor & Heart Lacquer: Polish Pickup August 2017

Standard

GUYS. We’ve made it. Officially nine blog posts in a little more than 5 days, and if there was ever a reason to have a wine cooler on a Sunday morning, this here’d be it.

One polish showed up last minute or else I SWEAR this blog would be on time.  But then hubby and I went out of town and forced me to go be social against my will, so the blog was delayed even further. AND THENNNNNN! We went to a Guns N Roses concert that lasted almost five hours, and 7,397 electric guitar solos later, well, naturally some napping ensued. Y’all, I’m old. I can swatch and blog until 4 in the morning, but anything other than that? CRAPSHOOT.

Regardless, here’s one last polish you need from the Polish Pickup. FOCUS! Cuz it’s Polish Emergency plus jazz hands. And some serious business up ahead.

Presenting Falling in Love With…Chad by Anchor & Heart Lacquer:

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Now, SWOON!

In case you’ve forgotten the last eight blogs I’ve posted, the theme for August is Old Hollywood. Taryn was inspired by Elvis Presley’s character, Chad Gates, from the movie, Blue Hawaii. Take a look at this:

And now this:

It’s a purple EXTRAVAGANZA!  All the colors from the photo are in here people, cuz Taryn is a freaking MAGICIAN. Seriously, she has a store full of other gorgeous polish to prove it.

DESCRIPTION:  A warm purple holographic with blue flame, holo microglitter in pink, purple and blue PLUS iridescent shifting flakies in aqua/purple/pink and blue/green/gold

That’s a lot of goodies!  If this one somehow ends up on all the surfaces, no one is surprised.

Macros:

Gah! Do you see that jackpot flakie?!  Uhhhhhhnnnnn.  Excuse me while I lick my screen real quick.  Judgy Eyes (aka, hubby) needs to just LOOK AWAY lest divorce happen by accident.

I mean, who’s acting normal at this point anyway?  If you haven’t drooled in a thousand buckets by now, well clearly you are WRONG.

Here’s where the emergency comes in.  The Polish Pickup sale is almost over. You have today and tomorrow only to snag this beauty, and then it goes away FOREVER. And I swear, if you’re waking up on August 8, sad and polish-less, I am var var concerned about your brain.  CUZ WE’VE BEEN OVER THIS BEFORE, that’s why.

To read up on the Polish Pickup, what it is, what it does, click here to read the FAQs. Then while you’re in a clicking mood, join the Polish Pickup group on Facebook (click here!) so you can get in on theme nominations, voting, interacting, and being social all while lounging on couches.  Weeeee!

Oh, and this polish retails for $12 and comes with a side of Leonardo.  Or else I just dreamed that. I dunno.

Click here for shopping, then go be happy.

Later, loves!

PART 3 Polish Pickup July 2017: Cocktails & Mocktails

Standard

We’re finally here.  Part 3 of this blogging EXTRAVAGANZA!  I’ve been writing all day long, ignoring responsibilities like a DADGUM CHAMPION.  Hubby tried to remind me there was a sink full of dishes, and I just laughed and laughed and laughed. Cuz clearly I AM BUSY and I only took a break one time to change the wallpaper in my fake bakery.

And if that’s not enough overachieve-y for you, there’s a strong possibility I’m blogging from the bathtub.  I mean, the blog don’t write itself now does it?  And the legs don’t shave themselves either.  Booooo.

Before you continue, I highly recommend reading Parts 1 and 2 first.  I’ve left links for you at the bottom of this post.  I’d put them up top for you as well, but honestly, we’ve had enough effort on display over here to last us at least 37 years.

Soooo, doing my deed as the designated blogger for the July Polish Pickup cuz apparently someone out there likes this weird little world I live in.  Okay, 9 more to go!  Let’s get into it.

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

As a reminder, the theme for July is Cocktails & Mocktails.  As your Speling Bee Champion of 1987, REST ASSURED.  It is quite possible to be booed on your 21st birthday for sipping a Jagermeister shot like a fancy lady.  But despite all that, I am an extremely cool person.

COATS:  Exceptional coverage in one. I did two for funsies, but some may be okay with just one.

This is my first go with Chirality Polish, and lemme just say I am beyond impressed.  This polish is gorgeous!  The green hints turns the color almost like a teal blue/green and for real, my brain has stopped holding my mouth closed.  Someone’s getting unattractive!  Hubby needs to look away, cuz there’s only so much sexy to go around while your tongue is lolling about outside your body.

Listen, if you read my blog, you all know I swatch a lot of BLUSH.  Victoria makes some of the most breaktaking, stunning and unique polishes I’ve ever seen.  If you haven’t tried her stuff, you need to at least start with this one.  It’s happiness in a bottle.  With a Leonardo on top, for sure.

PAHLISH:  The Green Muse

DESCRIPTION:  A super bright acid green foil

COATS:  Two, amazingly smooth

You’re looking at four fingers of Green Apple Jolly Rancher goodness, and I swear I’d lick it if SOCIETY wasn’t so judgy.  Cuz what is the point in life if you can’t lick a juicy green nail polish every once in a while?  I ask you, WHAT IS THE POINT?  Might taste slightly more poison-y, but we’ll never know for sure.  Behaving normal is zero fun sometimes.

COATS: Two, nice and smooth

Oh, now this!  What a delicate and soothing shade.  It’s just so lovely to look at, with that gold shimmer peeking through.  This polish practically begs to hold a tiny cappucino; it’s dainty and so sweet.  Or if you’re having little sandwiches later, you’re already halfway prepared.  Tea with the Queen?  BRING IT.

CONTRARY POLISH:  Sweet Poison

DESCRIPTION:  A blue leaning green with aqua shimmer, sapphire microflakies and a light linear holo effect

COATS:  Two, the most beautiful of your life!

Someone needs to wheel me over one of those old fashioned fainting couches, cuz I am legit DONE with being upright.  There’s a noodle leg epidemic happening, and WE. ARE. IN IT.  There’s drool buckets and smelling salts and general unattractiveness.  Quick! lock the door, lest hubby walks in and divorces me.

In other words, I reallllllly love this polish.  You will too.  Good news:  you’re buying it.

FANCHROMATIC NAILS:  Wildfire

DESCRIPTION:  A neon yellow/green base with holographic gold and silver flakies, shimmer and microglitter with a smattering of larger holo silver and gold glitter. Glows in dark and under black light for those who have more exciting lives than me.

COATS:  Three thin coats, and still only the tiniest bit of nail line peeks through.

Well, you had me at greeeen.  I enjoyed this polish a lot.  Neon is always so fun.  The application of this one is very smooth and kind of addicting.  I don’t even know why, as there’s not even any Starbucks in it.  And Leonardo is no where to be seen.  But I just loved putting it on my nails.  It was almost a Polish Mountain-type scenario, except I gave up after three coats.  I’m not very good at goals, let’s just say.

DESCRIPTION:  A linear holographic base with gold shimmer, silver holo micro shreds and an assortment of fun glitters in matte, holo and iridescent finishes

COATS:  Three thin coats on this one, although two might be okay for some.

A legit no joke carnival celebration!  This polish is fun and festive and full of joy.  Perfect for party nails.  Or napping nails, you know, if you’re me.  Cuz parties require going outside, and going outside requires pants, so at this point I’m just gonna have to pass. And society frowns on pants-less outdoor escapades, I’m almost certain.

LEESHA’S LACQUER:  Tequila Sunrise

DESCRIPTION:  A sunset orange to yellow thermal with a smattering of holo

COATS:  Three, although two looked pretty good

Oh, thermals, my evil friend. Picture it: me, in the floor by the air vent, with my hand in a glass of ice water, having anxiety.  And then trying to photograph it all before the thermal changed.  Honestly, there were probably about 7,397 attempts before I finally found my groove.  At that point, my reaction time between ice water, towel, and hands in the light box, was approximately NASCAR pit crew changing a set of tires plus trying to get a bee out of my car during lunch break divided by scrolling by a surprise photo of a snake coming out of a toilet on Facebook.

So here’s to at least 19 hours of my life.  Here’s the warm to cool transition:

TOADARRIFIC VINYLS

There’s not just polish available at the Polish Pickup.  Teanna has three nail arty things to offer this month, all cocktail related and stinkin adorable!

First are the stencils:

Clearly, I’m no expert, but at least an attempt was made.  Worth half a horn toot at least.

Now here’s where the awesome photography skills kick in. Get ready!

Some cocktail decals:

These have a gorgeous iridescent finish on them, which I tried to capture in my photo. I mean, if your first thought was PROFESSIONAL, you are correct.

Price: $5 for both the stencils and decals, sold as a combo

And finally, a large decal for your Helmer:

Same iridescent finish. The transfer film is still on this decal, but would be removed when you actually use it, so the colors really pop out.  Also, the sausage fingers are lurking.  Ew.

Price: $3/each

GUYS. We made it!  This is the real true end; you read all the way to the bottom!  Toots for you, my friend, for your perseverence or at least reading all this with just one of your eyes closed.  And now you are properly armed with a shopping list and a hoard all the polish kind of game plan.  Y’all ready to spend some money?  Cuz it’s bye bye checkbook in 3 … 2 … 1 …

Shop opens Friday, July 7 at 11am EST and will stay open until Monday, July 10 at 1159pm EST.  If you’re not setting like 17 alarms, I am var var concerned about your brain.  Click here for shopping!  And in case you didn’t read the other parts to the most ginormous blog post in all the land, here’s more things to click on:

Part 1

Part 2

There are a few makers that will be selling polish that I did not get to feature.  Be sure to be on the lookout for what Lilypad Lacquer, Darling Diva Polish and Supernatural Lacquer has to offer as well.  I’ve seen sneak peeks, and basically you’re gonna want them too.

Lastly, let me just say THANK YOU to Sarah and Adrienne, the Polish Pickup creators (and founders of Fair Maiden Polish) for having me blog this most prestigious opportunity.  It has been beyond fun, and I’m grateful to have been chosen to share my love for nail polish and my weird little blog with so many people.  And to the makers who sent me their polishes to swatch, well how very BAD ASS are you?  I hope I’ve done them justice and that you sell a trillion bottles because of it.

Til next time …

Later, loves!

Anchor & Heart Lacquer: The Maine Squeeze Collection + Polish Con Limited Editions

Standard

After all the horn tooting the other day, I failed to post a blog last night and now the failure of that moment is almost too much to bear.  Is that what we can expect now from your BEST BLOGGER EVER?  Throwing out kudos and accolades and high fives in all directions, then snatching it all back in a NO SOUP FOR YOU! kind of way?

In my defense, I got paper towel fuzz in my wet nails and 2.5 seconds later, there was a dark hole and WE WERE IN IT.  I mean, there was chaos and it was everywhere.  Paper towel fuzz, then cat hair, now Dorito crumbs.  Universe, whyyyyyyy?!?!  My little mini swatch party took eons with light years and eternities on top, then it was 2 a.m. and WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY LIFE?

18,000 desk naps later, and here I am blogging like a dadgum professional.

Taryn with Anchor & Heart Lacquer sent me some real beauties to review for you today.  I have the two Polish Con limited editions plus the new Maine Squeeze collection, and OMG you guys.  If there was ever a time to hoard all the polish, now sounds about right.  Get off your no-buys ladies, cuz this is a legit justified situation in progress.

First things first, the Polish Con limited edition duo.  Ready to fall in love super hardcore?  Well then lesss go!

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

First up is Hello, Brooklyn:

This is a raspberry pink with scattered holo, green micro flakies and green to gold iridescent micro glitters.  I love this shade of pink, man.  While pastels are all fine and good, nothing makes me look more tan and less unattractive than a nice medium pink shade.  Pretty little sausages in just two coats.

And now, a macro:

The other half of this duo is Anchor & Heart in the City:

This one has an aqua blue creme base with gold shimmer and flashes of purple and green sparks.  It’s so dreamy!  When I think of spring, it’s colors like this that quickly come to mind.  And you’re gonna want it, just so you know.  Cuz no one does Crazy Nail Lady quite like you.

An ocean of lovely:

This duo releases at Polish Con in New York this Saturday, and any leftovers will be offered in the Anchor & Heart store on May 1.  Price for each is $10, but there is special tiered pricing if you’re picking these up at Polish Con.  Deets at the bottom!

The other new release is The Maine Squeeze collection:

Seriously, it just got stupid in here.  What are words?  What is breathing?  What is not having your tongue loll about outside your body?  I swear my brain has just up and gone somewhere.  This shimmery rainbow has got me all sorts of drool-y.  Time to lock myself in my bedroom cuz Ugly Ecstasy Face causes divorce if I’m not mistaken.

First up is Lobster Roll:

This one is a peach leaning pink creme with red shimmer.  Appears more orange-ish in artificial light (above); more pink-ish outdoors (or under lamps like below).  But regardless, we love it so much.  Peach, pink, french fry, potato:  it’s all good either way.

I kinda wanna lick this one:

Except SOCIETY says no. Society is zero fun sometimes.

Next up is Portland Sunrise:

This one is an pale orange creme with a delicious red shimmer. Such a unique combo, I think.  The shimmer is subtle on the nail but when it hits the light, she glows so pretty.  Totally worth lugging around your LED lamp with you everywhere, cuz completely normal behavior is a thing for other people.

Moan-y mouth noises are about to come out, I just know it:

Uhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnn.  See?

Now here’s Blackberry Lemonade:

This one is a medium yellow creme with lavender shimmer. At first glance, I thought this one had a red shimmer, but these photos prove otherwise.  Most likely I was swatching it with one eye closed, cuz naps just happen sometimes.

It was hard to get a macro of such a light color, so here’s the best shot out of 2783:

I mean, not terrible but if no award is coming, I’m not surprised.

Now we have Island Pines:

This one is a mossy light green creme with pink to green shifting shimmer.  Right about this point is where I fell apart.  Drool buckets, everywhere. Cuz you can’t have a green in here like this and expect me to act like everything is fine.  EVERYTHING IS NOT FINE.  I’m trying to stay a lady, but the sweating is so dire.

It’s super pass-out-y in here now.  Send help.

BIG. PUDDLE. OF GOO.

Next up is Beaches, Beaches:

This one is an azure blue creme with strong copper/orange shimmer, and basically all my blue lovers just died a little bit.  Is this not spectacular?!  Check her out under the lamps:

There’s no way you’re getting out of this blog without 27 back-up bottles of this one.  Cuz rational thinking:  OUT THE WINDOW.

More macro, more drool:

How you’re turning away from all this now is beyond all the comprehensions.  Perhaps you have no eyes.  A black soul, maybe.  I dunno.

Lastly, here’s Wicked Good Blueberries:

This one is a lavender purple creme with blue to purple shifting shimmer.  And naturally, we’d end with a big ole exclamation point.  The perfect cap to a perfect collection.  It’s happiness with a Starbucks and a Leonardo on top, and what more could you ask for, really?  Except for a basketful of kitties, NOT MUCH.

Macro to seal the deal:

In the cart they go!

The Maine Squeeze collection is currently on preorder in the Anchor & Heart store until April 29 at 10pm EST.  So basically, this is a POLISH EMERGENCY!  If you’re not able to snag these at Polish Con, you have just one day to get your life together.  Are you properly panicked?  Well, you should be.

During the online preorder, this set retails for $55 or you can get a single bottle for $10.  If you do miss the preorder, Taryn will be restocking these at some point later in May.  So keep watch!

POLISH CON SPECIALS:

To make it easy (cuz MATH; booooo), Taryn is offering a special tiered pricing for Polish Con goers.  One bottle is $10, three bottles is $28 and six bottles is $52.

Also, there’s mystery grab bags!   These could include box exclusives, Sunken Treasures, and/or polishes from previous collections.  Cost is $10 for two full size polishes or $5 for two minis. Whyyyyyyy, that’s practically free!  And we love free things; oh yes we do.

And don’t forget, the two Polish Con limited editions will be available online on May 1 if they don’t sell out.  Click here for shopping if so!

That’s it for today, but don’t worry – I’ll be back in a few hours posting another blog to make up for whatever the hell happened last night.  Insanity.  Ridiculousness.  A most inappropriate situation, at the minimum.  So stay tuned.  A lot of effort is on its way and you don’t wanna miss it.

Later, loves!

Anchor & Heart Lacquer: Messages in a Bottle – January and February

Standard

The year was 2005, the year of the chunky black shoe.  My daughter, just under 12 years old, was still willing to hug me with both arms, so clearly it a magical time.  It was summer – or maybe spring – and the world was full of green.  And happiness.  Lots and lots of happiness.

But then there was that dadgum trampoline.  Oh yes, all your childhood dreams are coming true.  Visions of flying, carefree and laughing, fill your mind.  Warm nights, laying outside on the cool mesh, staring up at the sky, counting stars.  Sounds dreamy, right?

Ugh.  Not even close.  Unless you’re totally fine with peeing your pants a little, I recommend bypassing the trampoline altogether.

However, what I’m really trying to say is, don’t jump on a trampoline with chunky black shoes on.  Cuz I did that.  And it hurt. A LOT.  I would’ve peed my pants all day long instead if I was given a choice.  Not only that, but the humiliation of having your husband shave just one of your legs so you could go to the hospital for an X-Ray, is too much to bear at times.  Of course, I am quite proud to note that amidst my suffering, I still had my wits about me to be a proper lady.  Again, only one leg, but still.  The fact that me and my husband at that time are now divorced is beside the point.

Fast forward to yesterday.  I got on a trampoline again for the first time in 12 years.  My granddaughter had left her headband outside and I went to retrieve it, and it was supposed to be an in and out real quick kinda thing.  But something took over me (as somethings are wont to do), and I bounced up and down for about 7.2 seconds.  Then naturally, because this is MY life we are talking about, I tweaked my foot as I landed a little off center.  And then as I was crawling out of the safety net, someone had replaced my normal legs with baby deer ones, cuz I swear I was 90 years old trying to get off that thing.  I don’t know if the universe is trying to tell me something (i.e., you’re old, you’re out of shape, stop eating potato chips), but I think I’ll just stick with my constant pajamas plan instead.

So get comfy with me and let’s look at pretty things.  I have two new polishes from Anchor & Heart Lacquer to share with you today.  And I had a nerdy font fest.  Ta da!

With jazz hands, of course.

This year, Taryn is doing a series of 12 polishes called Messages in a Bottle.  Each month will be a new shade, each promoting an empowering message in its name.  And you know what?  I think that’s freakin’ fabulous.  Every single one of us needs to hear something kind and uplifting, and if it comes in the form of a brand new nail polish, well what more justification do you need?  Get off your no-buys, ladies!  These are well worth your pennies.

First up for January is You’ve Got This:

Y’all know I’m not one for nude polishes cuz it makes me look pale and vitamin deficient, but this one … I mean, THIS ONE.  It’s got an extra special something that I absolutely love.  Like those flakies.  Gah!  Flakies make everything better.  And prettier and skinnier, too, probably.

So this one is a pink-tone nude polish with orange/lilac/blue shifting shimmer, pink holo micro glitter and violet/pink/gold shifting flakies.  It’s a neutral, but all dressed up for a party.  I did two coats here, but some might need three for full opacity.  Or you might need three cuz it literally takes superhuman strength to stop polishing with it.

Macros to drool over:

Okay now that one was ridiculous.  Did you see all that stuff in there?  Why this polish doesn’t cost like a billion dollars, I have no idea.

I made nail art:

I hope you can tell that is a rose pattern, but regardless, isn’t it so precious?  I chose this wine colored stamping polish that complimented those flakies just perfectly.  Or I think so anyway.  But I also think Fritos and an entire can of bean dip is a great idea, so what do I know, really?

The roses came from the Uber Chic Beauty Love and Marriage 03 plate that just released.  I’ve been using it a ton lately, so you all should definitely check it out.

February’s polish is called You Are Enough:

Did you just die?  Cuz I sure did.  That is one heckuva glowy pink.  Wowwwww.  Someone help me put my mouth back on my face, please.  My brain’s stopped holding it closed.  And look, more flakies!  Seriously, Taryn, what are you doing to me? I do not look attractive with my tongue lolling about outside my body.

This one is a dark pink jelly based holo with shimmering pink/orange glass flecks and flakies that shift green/blue/purple.  Again, I did this one in two coats, but if there’s one polish to justify a trip to Polish Mountian, this one might be it.  One hundred layers sounds like a party I can get into.  Cuz although it might be one of the stupidest things I could ever do (aside from that one time where I jumped on a trampoline in boots; ugh), the fact it doesn’t require pants makes it so very appealing.

Better sit down before looking at these:

You okay?  Need a rag for your forehead?  I know.  Nail polish makes you sweaty sometimes.  I get it.

More kinda okay nail art:

Again, used the Uber Chic Beauty Love and Marriage 03 plate, and stamped on some heart images using a blue stamping polish that I thought kinda matched the flakies.  It didn’t really, but it turned out okay.  One thing for sure:  this polish is a true stunner and if it’s not going in your basket, you might wanna consult a doctor CUZ SOMETHING IS WRONG.
The round up:

I can’t think of any better way to spend your Friday night than throwing a couple of these in your shopping cart.  Honestly, you were just gonna put on sweatpants anyway – might as well be useful about it.

These polishes are part of the Messages in a Bottle series (as I mentioned), and despite the fact they are January and February offerings, you will be able to snag these any time.  Except let’s go ahead and take care of that now, just in case.  Release date is Friday, January 27 at 9pm EST so make sure you have Post-It Notes on all your surfaces.  Then click here to shop. There’s an initial preorder thru January 31 with shipping to start one week later, then once all that’s done, they will be fully in stock in February.

Can’t wait to see what the year holds for Anchor & Heart – what more empowering, uplifting messages we will find.  I’m okay with fast forwarding to March anyway.  It can stop being 40-degrees any time now.

Later, loves!
