Standard

• A PRESS SAMPLE FANDANGO •

Time once again for everyone’s favorite Polish Emergency cuz the March Polish Pickup is coming y’all!  Annnnd, YOU GUYS … We got us a good one.  This month’s theme is Books and I am the happiest of all things happy.  Books, gloriously smiling-to-myself-like-an-idiot BOOKS.  My first love, my best friend, the whole reason it takes me three hours to drink one tiny wine cooler.  Cuz while all the cooler kids went to parties, I read books like it was my dadgum job and quite honestly – I got the better end of the deal.  I mean, the fact I have no idea how to sip a shot of Jagermeister without holding my pinky up like a fancy lady is beside the freaking point.

As your Spelling Bee Champion of 1987 (i.e., EXPERT to like the trillionth degree), I must say how much you’re gonna love this theme and all these gorgeous polishes.  In fact, I’m prettttty sure we’re about to toss polish in the cart with our eyes closed cuz at this point, NOTHING ELSE EVEN MATTERS.  Cuz nail polish inspired by books!  We’ll take like 18,000 bottles.  And normal behavior = out the stinking window.  Y’all ready to spend a billion dollars?  Well then, lessss go!

SCOFFLAW VARNISH: THE LADY AMALTHEA

Finch was inspired by the book, The Last Unicorn.  And I must say, this polish is a perfect interpretation.  Practically twins!  Take a look:

See? Told ya. I don’t know how this keeps happening month after month, but Finch might know a thing or two about polish.  Or something.  I dunno.

The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone …

Taryn was inspired by the book, The Phantom Tollbooth:

I’m well aware how tiny that picture is.  I’m suuuuuuper good at blogging, you guys!

The Phantom Tollbooth is one of my favorite childhood books.  The polish Rhyme & Reason gets it’s name from the two exiled princesses who bring peace to the mysterious lands beyond the Tollbooth.  If you love grammar, puns or grammar puns, this book is for you!

— Taryn, Anchor & Heart Lacquer

Victoria was inspired by the book, The Great Gatsby, and then she tossed this picture in there like NO BIG DEAL:

Welp, things are NOT going well.  Cuz it’s hard to blog while one is busy being a puddle of goo on the floor.  UGH.  Oh Leonardo, how I love you so.  If I was a craftier type of person, I’d photoshop myself right in the middle of all that.

Price: $13

Karen was inspired by the book, The Red Tent, which is one of my personal favorites of all time EVER.  All cleverness aside, if you come away from this blog wondering what else you can buy other than a crap ton of nail polish, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let it be this book.  You needs.  I’M SERIOUS.

If you’ve momentarily forgotten whose blog this is, well here .. lemme fix it.  Again with the tiny photo.  The blogging skillz are seriously at an all-time high.

It’s a wonder that any mother ever called a daughter Dinah again.  But some did.  Maybe you guessed that there was more to me than the voiceless cipher in the text.  Maybe you heard it in the music of my name: the first vowel high and clear, as when a mother calls to her child at dusk; the second sound soft, for whispering secrets on pillows.  Dee-nah.

— Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent

Price: $12

KBSHIMMER: IF YOU WANT MY BODICE

DESCRIPTION:  A cool minty teal to deep lavender multichrome shifter with deeper hues of magenta and blue with flecks of unicorn flakies and holographic micro flakies

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Christy was inspired by the covers of bodice-ripper romance novels, this one in particular:

Sooooo … we’re all buying this one right?  RIGHT.  Cuz you don’t just toss a unicorn in there for no dadgum reason.  But also, Christy made this polish, and we buy EVERYTHING that Christy makes.  We might’ve been voodoo’ed real good this time.

Some women have a dirty little secret; every night they escape to a world where a handsome rogue lusts after their busty figure and not even a laced up bodice would still the passion that burned between them.  At the end of the day, when that beloved book with it’s racy cover gets placed in the nightstand, the pages worn and dog-eared, those women thank Harlequin and Silhouette for the tales of intrigue, romance and of course, lust.

— Christy, KBShimmer

FAIR MAIDEN POLISH: YOU DO IT TOO

DESCRIPTION:  A plummy-red base with green/golden/copper/magenta multichrome shift, silver, copper and emerald holographic glitters and green/gold/red iridescent glitters

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Sarah and Adrienne was inspired by the book, Everyone Poops, and I gotta say:  a blog isn’t proper without a good poop story in it.  As a child, I used to purposefully step on cow patties cuz I didn’t know cow patties were made of poop.  How other people let this happen, we’ll NEVER freaking know.

Okay, so Everyone Poops:

Well, except for me.  I’m quite clearly a miracle of nature.  My body is a wonderland, in case you didn’t know.

A ridiculous display of holo:

In addition to the polish, Sarah and Adrienne made a poo spray, or toilette spray if you’re fancy.  A couple spritzes in the toilet before you go then flush when you’re done.  All that’s left is a scent of lemongrass, lavender and peppermint, you know, proper lady smells cuz HEAVEN FORBID anything else goes on behind that door.

Also: it works.  That’s basically all you need to know.

Price: $11 for the polish; $6 for the poo spray (2 fl oz)
