Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer: Polish Pickup January 2018

Standard

• A PRESS SAMPLE FANDANGO •

Three blogs in three days, two weeks ahead of schedule.  I swear, is this even me right now cuz I legit don’t even know anymore.  The fact I am currently drinking a smoothie with both spinach AND kale in it is further proof that something has definitely gone awry.  YOU GUYS.  The alarming lack of Cheetos and things with gravy on top is almost too much to bear.  Seriously, WHOSE LIFE IS THIS?  Let’s just assume I’ve been kidnapped and someone else is writing this blog, because somehow that makes more sense.

SHALL WE READ MORE? WE SHALL!

Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer: Fall Quartet 2017

Standard

In true ME fashion, I meant to get this blog up yesterday but I downloaded about 27 games onto my iPad last night and then didn’t move off the couch for all eternity.  Seriously, about that wasting-time thing:  LEVEL EXPERT.  But the black hole that is putting benches and fountains in your fake garden is legit no joke FOR REAL.  I did one little thing and normal brain function = OUT THE FREAKING WINDOW.  Next thing, it’s 5 in the morning and I’m buying paving stones and floating lily pads with my eyes closed.  In my defense, though, I’m suuuuuuper good at imaginary gardening.

CLEARLY, I am the saddest person in the world.

Soooo, let’s get to the polish before more stupid things come out.  I received a lovely quad of pretties from Connie with Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer to show you today.  In case you’re sitting around wearing sweatpants and doing a whooooole lotta nothing, spending some money sounds like your most logical next step.  Look at what you’re buying:

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

I see holo! I see glitter! I see jaws are dropping, everywhere.

So this is the new Fall Quartet, four gorgeous shades full of yummy deliciousness that you’re gonna need at least 18,000 times over.  COMPLETE RATIONAL BEHAVIOR, though, in case you’re curious.

It doesn’t say anywhere that this quad is inspired by The Golden Girls, buuuuuut they share names with The Golden Girls and since I’m pretty much an expert in re-runs of tv shows from the 1980s, wellll, there’s a math equation in there somewhere if you’re so inclined.  Either way, though, it’s a lovely quad and a bonafide justification situation to like the trillionth degree.

Here’s your quick rundown of colors.  Grab the smelling salts and prepare for extra ladylike scenarios! Drool is happening in 3 .. 2 .. 1 ..

BEA

DESCRIPTION:  A black with various silver holo glitters

Bea Arthur played Dorothy Zbornak in The Golden Girls, and this polish reminds me of her salt-n-pepper hair.  And I don’t know if I just invented a brand new marketing strategy or what, but if you want this polish EVEN MORE NOW well then you are welcome.

OMG, I am soooo good at blogging you guys!

BETTY

DESCRIPTION:  A pink with gold and pink shimmer

Betty White played the character, Rose Nylund – and this color is the perfect representation for her.  Cuz her name is Rose and roses are pink sometimes.

Y’ALL.  I’m not saying I’m a rocket scientist, but I’m probably a rocket scientist.

ESTELLE

DESCRIPTION:  A linear holographic in a sheer silver base with silver holo glitter, fuchsia sparks and iridescent glitter

Estelle Getty played Sophia Petrillo, the oldest of the group.  She was a feisty little mama with comebacks and attitude, and so naturally this polish gotta be IN YO FACE.  Seriously, it’s a dire case of the grabby fingers with this one.

RUE

DESCRIPTION:  A plum holographic with copper sparks

Rue McClanahan played the role of Blanche Devereaux, a flirtatious, sexy southern belle.  This polish is a glorious representation.  It’s basically my spirit polish, as y’all know where there is sexy there is me wearing an extraordinary amount of robe with one hand in a Cheetos bag.

THE ROUND UP

Annnnnnnd we’ve officially passed the hell on out now.  Good lordt, they’s pretty.

For all my swatches, I did three coats for no dadgum good reason.  Cuz two coats was perfectly fine.  But this is what happens when you swatch at 2am on a work night:  the brain done goes away somewhere, I swear it.

The Fall Quartet is already up for pre-order right now thru October 20 at 11:59pm PST.  In case you don’t math well, that’s like 7 days to organize your life. Seventy Seven up top, people!  Here’s your deets:

Cost for the full four piece set $44

Single bottles retail for $11.99

Where to buy:  http://www.seventysevennaillacquer.com

Now, these will still be available after the pre-order, but quantities will be limited. Although, who’s in the mood to take risky chances with their nail polish?  CERTAINLY NOT YOU. In fact, you’re first in line. Go go go!

I have a huuuuuge swatch day ahead of me, so I best get to it.  I’m determined to keep the iPad away, lest more fake gardening (and accidental real divorce) happens.  BEST BLOGGER EVER?  I say yes.

Later, loves!

Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer: Polish Pickup September 2017

Standard

Reason #1257 I hate shopping:

I got stuck inside of a shirt in a JCPenney’s dressing room.

GUYS. I swear the shirt fit going on, but suddenly it got 27 levels of claustrophob-y on its way back off.  Literally, I couldn’t find a way out of it.  Arm holes weren’t working unless I could manage a bit of elbow gymnastics, which CLEARLY I could not (cuz gymnastics = effort).  So after a billion fruitless minutes, anxiety plus a sweat bead mustache, I stood there staring at myself mid-disaster, sad and wondering WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO MY LIFE?!

And then, I’m pretty sure I violated some kind of dressing room code cuz hubby had to come in there to take the shirt off for me.  I panicked a little and left the door open so we wouldn’t get arrested, although I’m not entirely sure where my brain was going with that course of logic.  In my defense, this is what happens when I’m forced to leave the house against my will.  Cuz no one ever got stuck in a shirt while wearing no pants and lounging on couches.  At least 23% sure of it.

In related news, I bought the shirt because OF COURSE I DID.

More Polish Pickup goodies!  This time, I’ve got something beautiful from Connie with Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer.  Check out this purple stunner:

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

Well, we’re all gonna need that one!  Like 18,000 bottles of it, cuz hers a pretty lady, that’s why.

Again, this month’s theme is Fall Foliage and Fun, and I swear if my fall looked anywhere near something like this (instead of the brown and crunchy it normally is), I’d have zero problem with its unfortunate proximity to the hell that is winter.  For at least half a second anyway.

Here is Connie’s inspiration:

Are you kidding me?!  That picture and this polish:  practically twins!  NAILED IT doesn’t even begin to describe this scenario.  Scroll for more proof:

FALLING FOR YOU

DESCRIPTION:  A muted purple with red shimmer and taupe, greyish purple and iridescent microflakies

OPACITY:  This polish is pretty sheer, so I did 4 coats here.  Others got it opaque in 3.  HOWEVER, the formula is delicious, gloop-free perfection and 4 coats felt like it barely even happened.  I’d do it again, and coming from one who rarely goes the extra mile, that’s saying something.

More lolling tongues ahead:

This beauty just GLOWWWWWWS.  I can’t say enough good things about it.  Moan-y throat noises are about to come out, though, so let’s wrap this up real quick.  Lest hubby walks in and feels sad about the unattractive mess he’s married to.

If you need info on what the Polish Pickup is and how it works, click here for FAQs. The shop opens Friday, September 1 at 11am EST and will be available thru all day Monday, September 4. Make sure you don’t miss it! Otherwise who wants to be you on Tuesday, September 5?  Damn near nobody, pretty sure.

Falling For You will retail for $11.50, in case y’all like to budget instead of toss polish in the cart all willy nilly like me. Click here for shopping!

Stay tuned, loves. This ride ain’t over yet!

PART 2 Polish Pickup July 2017: Cocktails & Mocktails

Standard

Wasn’t I just in here blogging?  I swear I was.

Welcome to Part 2 of the insanity, guys!  In case you just jumped in here in the middle like a crazy person, there’s a whole other Part 1 you need to read first.  DO IT.  I’m serious.  Click here.

Brief reiteration of what we’re doing.  I got chosen to blog for the Polish Pickup for the month of July and I’ve got a crap ton of polishes to show you before the carpal tunnel sets in.  Trying to keep things short and sweet, as I know we all don’t lounge around on couches doing nothing like me.  You and your fancy life.  Ugh.

I’m about to get 97.7668% more chatty, so let’s reel it in.  Here’s 10 more things you’re buying:

• SUPER DUPER PRESS SAMPLES •

The theme for the July Polish Pickup is Cocktails & Mocktails, so everything in here is inspired by a drink.  Considering I can make one wine cooler last a whole three hours, I’d say 1) they chose the PERFECT month for me to blog, and 2) I’m super fun at parties.

STELLA CHROMA:  Blackberry Mint Moscow Mule

DESCRIPTION:  A nude crelly with green/purple ultra chameleon chrome flakies and a heavy dose of copper flakies

COATS:  Only needed two

This one is one of the most unique polishes of the bunch.  I don’t normally wear nude polishes cuz my sad white sausages look even more sausage-y when I wear neutrals.  HOWEVER.  The flakies in here are unreal!  They completely transform this polish and now I want to wear it on all FIVE fingers like a normal person.  The thumbs are about to get some luvin’!

TURTLE TOOTSIE POLISHES:  Galaxy Cocktail

DESCRIPTION:  A blurple holographic with pink shimmer and blue and purple chameleon flakies

COATS:  Excellent coverage in one, but needed two to make it perfect

Seriously, those little dots of blue peeking through, I want a trillion more of those!  I love those unexpected little surprises that only indie brands can do.  Plus, no one hates a blue and purple combo now do they?  Unless you don’t like pretty things, or maybe you have no eyes.  I dunno.

LOLLIPOP POSSE LACQUER:  Gin and Juice

DESCRIPTION:  A holographic gold to green duochrome that suspends gold flakies

COATS:  I did three coats although two might’ve been fine, but when I’m using one of Karen’s polishes, my brain just goes away somewhere.

Side note:  the more thin your coats, the better the flakies show up.  Also, Snoop Dog was the inspo for this polish although Karen said it’s not official.  But he is, I’m sure of it.  And lastly, the drool is getting ridiculous.  Bah!

SEVENTY SEVEN NAIL LACQUER:  Cherry on Top

DESCRIPTION:  A bright coral base with red, orange and slightly pink shimmer

COATS:  Formula is very sheer but builds up nicely. I did three coats and my nail line is still only slightly visible but not enough for me to do a fourth coat. Effort on a Sunday? No thank you!

This color is a hot little mama!  So vibrant and bold, and about 2.5 seconds away from HAND MODEL! if you ask me.

SASSY PANTS POLISH:  Anything But Blue in Hawaii

DESCRIPTION:  A vibrant blue jelly base with blue/green shifting shimmer and sprinkling of iridescent flakies

COATS:  Three thin coats as formula is pretty sheer, although it builds up well. Can get thick if you add too many coats, so go thin!

Mannnn, do I have a soft spot for jellies.  I want to swim in a huge bathtub full of this one.   The blue shade is bright and cheerful but very bold.  Who’s sticking their fingers in stranger’s faces and making them look at mah nails!  THIS LADY.  Clearly, I need supervised.

TOP SHELF LACQUER:  Flaming Sambuca Shots

DESCRIPTION:  A bluish black base with blue/purple/red shifting shimmer and multicolored shifting ultra chameleon chrome flakies

COATS:  Two, full of magic

The July Polish Pickup wouldn’t be proper without a Top Shelf polish in it.  Amy’s brand is all about the cocktails so naturally the universe done tipped sideways til we knew for sure:  TOP SHELF IS COMING, and now we can all breath again.  Thank God, too.  I was trying to be a trooper, but I can hold my breath for 17 seconds just fine until I’m told I HAVE to hold my breath for 17 seconds.

Aside from all that, though, flakies flakies everywhere, and in the cart she goes!

LE POLISH:  The Bees Knees

DESCRIPTION:  A white crelly with purple and yellow microflakies and gold shimmer

COATS:  Three, although two probably looks just fine. I felt like maybe I could see a bit of sheerness at two, but I was also painting with one eye closed so what do I know really?

There are so many flakies in here, that the white base looks lavender to me.  Again, I was in the midst of a 9 hour swatch fest, so perhaps I was painting with BOTH eyes closed at this point.  Trust me, it’s happened before.  This mani is the result of a damn near miracle.

PRETTY JELLY:  Old Fashioned

DESCRIPTION:  A burnt sienna jelly with holographic flakies and red/gold shimmer

COATS:  Two, extremely smooth and flowy

The fact the ice cream truck drove by at the exact moment I was using this and I somehow managed to not get up and run down the street in pajamas is a testament to the gloriousness of this polish.  It’s the color of sunlight through a glass of bourbon, so basically, NAILED IT doesn’t even begin to describe this scenario.

MY STUNNING NAILS:  Mint Julep

DESCRIPTION:  A pastel pearlized green base with a beautiful mix of powder and green, gold and silver hexagon glitters

COATS:  Two! This polish appeared to be thicker than it actually was, and it went on very smooth and easy.

Another new to me brand!  This one is a fun one, for sure.  I don’t think I’ve ever used a pearlized base before, and the finish of it is super cool. And although it has a different look to it, with top coat the surface dries completely glassy.   Well, and don’t even get me started on those tiny green glitters.  Cuz I could just sit here and love them for the next 37 years.

MS SPARKLE:  Unicorn Frappe

DESCRIPTION:  A purple-ish neon red with blue shift, teal iridescent glitters, black iridescent microglitters, spectraflair, baby blue microshreds, aqua shreds and unicorn flakies

COATS:  Three.  Formula was thin and a little goes a long way, so be careful unless you feel like cleaning up your cuticles for nigh on eternity.

This little lady is BRIGHT.  My camera had issues and about just shrugged its shoulders and walked straight out of the room.  But we persevered y’all!  Or at least an attempt was made.  For real, I know I just won an award and everything, but if you’re handing out Starbucks to celebrate all the overachieve-y happening over here, I’m pretty sure that sounds about right.

But also: this polish is really beautiful.
