The Holo Hookup: March 2018 – Gelato

Some var var useful advice:  if the plan is to write a blog somewhat on time and before the things are no longer the things (i.e., most ideal scenario) then don’t sit down next to a cat giving himself a bath all distracting and cutelike.  Like, I got about two words in and then suddenly IT’S DOWN THE KITTY HOLE FOR ME and I’m literally spending all my blogging efforts trying to keep myself from sticking my face in the middle of all that adorable licking.  The possibility of getting an eyeball scratched right out (approximately 97.3855% percent) fazes me not.  Nor does a timely blog, apparently, cuz it’s about 4 days later and I’ve just now remembered I have an actual job to do.  Who’s the best most professional blogger in all the land?  I’m not saying it’s me, but it’s probably me.

Now suddenly the March Holo Hookup is upon us and I’ve given you zero warning or paycheck preparation or nothing useful whatsoever.  (Again, THE BEST.)  So let’s just pretend I wrote the longest and most hilarious intro of all time ever, so we can get straight to the nail polish, you know, THE POINT OF THIS BLOG.  Cuz an insane amount of holo is happening in 3 … 2  … 1 …

Still upright?  Just checking.

The theme for March is gelato, and I can’t think of any more perfect way to celebrate the coming of spring.  We’ve been spoiled a little with some spring-like weather here the past 14 days or so, but then Mother Nature tosses in a couple ice storms just for not-so-funsies to make sure we all know who’s still in charge.  I don’t know about you, but 77-degrees one day then 36 and snowy the next is some kinda RUDE shenanigans if you ask me.  So anytime I can get my hands on some pretty pastels or florals or a handful of grass that isn’t brown nor crunchy, I’m gonna seize it in the most dramatic way possible.  37 new pairs of gelato-colored capri pants?   YES PLEASE.  We’re in my happy place, people, where bad credit card things start to happen.

Anyway, here’s the inspiration photo:

Annnnnd basically I can stop the blog right here cuz all this gelato but in nail polish form?  GIMME.  About 27,000 bottles worth at least.  Seriously, if you’ve come for the rational behavior, you’ve picked a var var bad day.  We toss polish in the cart with our eyes closed ’round here.

Okay, I figure the Holo Hookup peeps might prefer some actual swatches instead of just taking my word for it, as my word is A) mostly nonsense and B) sometimes a whoooole lotta useless.  So fiiiiine.  Proper blogging, here we go.

The featured brand for March is Lilypad Lacquer, and in an attempt to maintain a semblance of a classy lady, guests shall go first. Cuz in about 2.5 seconds, ladylike composure is going out the window anyway. Here’s what the lovely Nicole made for us:

DESCRIPTION:  A creamy pastel mint linear holographic

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Some cute nail art:

Okay, a good start.  This bodes well for the rest of the blog, hopefully.  Used the Lina Make Your Mark 06 plate for this one!

DESCRIPTION:  A creme based peach holographic with hints of small pink flakies and blue and pink shimmer

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

More cute nail art, surprisingly:

Two for two!  I’m seriously confused.  Who’s blog is this cuz it’s certainly not mine.  Used the Lina Totally Negative 01 plate in case recreations are in order.

DESCRIPTION:  A lilac creme based holographic

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Super simple nail art:

Soooo, I might’ve had a slip of the mojo on this one.  I don’t hate it, but it’s almost too simple.  Used the Lina Totally Negative 01 plate again, and in someone else’s more expert-y hands, this mani might’ve turned out a trillion times more fancy.  But since it’s just me in here, well did you expect anything less?  NO.  Next!

DESCRIPTION:  A banana yellow holographic with added holographic microglitters

OPACITY:  Two coats plus glossy top coat

Final nail art.  Mojo is officially at an all-time high:

A reprieve and I’ll take it!  Also super simple, but I really like how it turned out.  Maybe it’s that black accent nail that gives the eye a nice, neutral place to rest.  Although I stuck a big ole star stud on it cuz it’s still me we’re talking about here.  I didn’t stamp all the things at least.  Worth half a horn toot?  I think YES.  Used the Lina All Mixed Up 01 plate if you’re curious.

Pre-order for this box starts on February 21 at 9pm EST and will run thru February 28 at 9pm EST. And in case you don’t math well, that’s 7 days of panic heading your way. So 17 alarms and Post-It Notes in all the places? COMPLETELY NORMAL BEHAVIOR.

Cost is $40 and shipping will begin around March 12 or so, which may never get here if Mother Nature keeps messing with my temperatures.  I know it’s technically still February and generally the coldest month of the year, but I’ve been done with this winter thing since like September or something so if we can just move the hell along now, that’d be great.  SPRING! I’m coming for you.  Let’s make this snappy.
